Lamar Jackson

At this point I really think Lamar is just gone after this season. It'd be great to keep him, but he's gonna take the biggest contract he can get and a desperate team will give it to him.
I’m cautiously optimistic he will be a Raven long term. I think it’s 95% he plays next year on the tag , 50/50 he’s a Raven after that

I think he either wins a SB this year and Steve gives him what he wants, or not and he plays next year on the tag and we extend him before FA 2024.

I just can not see the ravens letting Lamar walk no matter the price in the end, unless he proves to be not nearly as good as we had hoped, and we better see him with a new playcaller before we make that distinction. They wanna see every possible angle they can and they know they got this year and 1, maybe 2 tags to use

If he’s tagged, I doubt he playing nice again and showing up to training camp. Be prepared for a hold out and nonstop media coverage of it.

What if Lamar plays bad this year? And/or we don't make the playoffs? Or are 1 and done again? What would be a fair price? Or should we just let him go to highest bidder after next year? I know this is all hypothetical but serious questions though.

Like I said, I'm speaking this shit into existence that he'll be a Raven long-term. Brother @JAAM , let's raise the stakes a little. If we are wrong and he gets traded or walks, I'll suspend the #SIIE for a whole season.

The cap number is probably lower than what we'd be getting if we extended him...
that's not true. Most likely if we extend him the first year of the contract, even if guaranteed, would be lower than the franchise tag and by a substantial amount. maybe 15 to 20m lower.

I don't know about you folks but i think If Lamar doesn't get what he wants he will request a trade next year.

I think he is gonna pull a Hollywood.

The fact he liked a photo of him on social media with a Dolphins uniform on leads me to believe this. I know
people think that was a negotiating tactic but Im not so sure about that.

My man is gone if he wants more than Watson fully guaranteed. Might as well ditch him next year while the value is at its highest , same with his health. Let some desperate team sell the farm to us for him.

I feel that he knows the Ravens won't give him that guaranteed contract he wants and this is his way to get out of Baltimore without saying it. Pure speculation in my part. He's exciting as heck to watch, freak of athlete, but idc what yall say if the rumors are true the Ravens offered top of the market contract and he turned it down he's being greedy. Dude is 1-3 in the playoffs he better make it to the AFC championship or the SB or his asking price definitely going to take a hit.

I honestly think he wants to be here, I just think he’s an idiot that doesn’t understand his true value . Why exactly does he deserve a Watson sized contract? Hell , Watson doesn’t even deserve a Watson sized contract.

I don’t like holding the playoff record against him because it’s a team game, but the offense has certainly produced some duds with him under center.

I don’t understand the desire some folks have to give Lamar whatever he wants. Last year Lamar started off hot and then was really bad down the stretch. Easily the worst stretch of games in his career. People blame the lack of players around him but what do you think is going to happen when his cap hit forces us to cut players and limits are ability in free agency? It will be the same frustrated Lamar we watched last year trying to force the issue. Come to your senses or be gone my man.

It has been written in stone, Brother.

This is kinda where I’m at. I don’t doubt Lamar can be the guy we need, but he has yet to perform consistently well enough(especially in the tournament) to win a championship. To demand a fully guaranteed, top of the market contract at this point is pretty silly and if that’s true it’s sure to have left a bad taste in the mouths of the Ravens FO.

That said, all this can be put to rest if LJ can lead us to a SB this year. Just win baby.

IMO all the risk is on Lamar. If the team tanks this year, or worse, he blows a knee out, he loses big time. On the other hand if the team succeeds and he has a big year he still won’t have much more ceiling above what he has already been offered (lots of speculation on what he’s been offered). He certainly won’t get a fully guaranteed deal. I love his confidence in himself but this is a big risk for him. I mean who does he think he is, Flacco?:lol::lol:

Either way you slice it, a fully guaranteed deal is very risky. It could cripple our franchise if something happened to him. He’s a good guy and seems like a very good person. He doesn’t seem to have the Watson skeletons in his closet either. The Watson deal the Browns made really have caused a lot of issues. Part of me wonders if they even thought through this. The only hope the Ravens may have is if the league somehow one day addresses the guaranteed contract thing but I highly doubt that happens because the NFLPA will definitely get involved there.

I just have no idea what the Browns were really thinking. They have totally complicated all future NFL contracts for high profile stars. The Watson deal is still the outlier but it’ll be interesting to see who budges first between Baltimore and Lamar.

I don't believe in the sources.
While I'm not sure what to believe either, I do think the Ravens put a very lucrative offer(guessing comparable to Murray's deal)on the table, can't believe they tried to low ball Lamar. It feels like him wanting fully guaranteed could be fact.
