Lamar Jackson

What was actual deal for lamar? Was it 133 guaranteed or 160-180?

still not sure or completely confirmed anywhere especially after lamar rejected some of the reporting as false anyway

but what's been "reported" is:

6yrs 290m
133m fully guaranteed at signing
160-180m in total guarantees (i.e. the fully guaranteed money + additional guarantees e.g. roster bonuses that trigger later in the contract and injury related guarantees)

I call cap. This is all speculation. Lamar's been silent about it and our FO barely leaks anything.
Only NFLPA could've leaked it. But it was reported they weren't deeply involved.
It was the NFLPA. The motherfuckers have co-opted my kid's financial future.

Exactly the deal that was offered. However, there is also reporting that suggests it may have been a 5 yr, 250M deal too.

I think Lamar would accept a deal with these parameters. 303M/6yrs with 200M fully guaranteed from the get go. I don't think the Ravens want to put up 200M in escrow. i believe that is the rub.

Michael Irwin is a floundering fool, so jaundiced by the Cowboys, that he can't like anybody else. Period.
Why do so many people keep listening to this fool. Yes he was a great a player, but he has no idea when he talks anything else besides his cowboys (well even then he provides barely anything of particular interest)

As I've suggested before, I mostly call bullshit on the whole "franchise don't want to put money in escrow" thing. They're a multi-billion dollar franchise with tens of millions in annual profits in a largely recession-proof industry. There would be 50 banks in the world lined up to loan them cash to put in escrow if they needed it. Assuming they needed it at all.

I watched that segment, not once did he mention our starting RBs still not being back

So, I commented during the game about James Lofton, but hands-down, Irwin is the worst. I finally had to tune into ESPN for the morning football show. Randy Moss is so good and Brushci and Ryan too. Don't really care for Hasslebeck, but he's alright. They say some stupid stuff too, but it's usually just opinion stuff, not so much football stuff. Irwin can't complete a thought without mentioning his 'boys. Good grief; it's terrible.

I think I've been pretty clear on being ok with either scenario playing out with Lamar. But it sure is hard not to like the guy and he fits the Baltimore vibe pretty damn well. I really do love that guy in that respect and that he seems like a truly genuine person. You gotta value that and I therefore endorse overpaying him a little to stay. Just not too much. ;)

Lamar is just too much to lose imo, gotta keep that man here til the wheels fall off

@Simba and i have both said this in the past multiple times - got to see this thing through to the end... can't be left with 'what ifs' with lamar - whatever it takes, we've got to do it - and i think ultimately they will do a deal because they know they have to, they had the luxury of being able to wait because lamar's not been threatening hold-outs or anything

i bet you if lamar threatens to hold-out or doesnt sign his franchise tag next year, you'll see the ravens pay up pretty quickly
