Lamar Jackson

You can't really judge intelligence based on how someone sounds that's more reflective of his upbringing than how smart he is. If he is given half or less than the time than other QBs to make adjustments at the line than you are making an unfair comparison based on a variable controlled the fat controller.

Remember in good will hunting when everyone thought Matt Damon was dumb because how he sounded and he turned out to be a genius. Think about that for a second!

Well, you know, a smart sounding player is always going to be better than a dumb sounding one and book smarts directly translate to football knowledge. That's why Harvard graduate Ryan Fitzpatrick is the GOAT NFL player.

It’s not just arm talent but his ability to control the offense. Half of our games are spent rushing to the line , followed by chaos attempting to get the snap off. On the flip side you see Burrow at the line point at receivers, signaling hot reads, adjusting to the blitz, all while calm and collect.

Again some of this falls on Roman but I’ve always wondered if Lamar has held back Roman as much as Roman has Lamar. I mean Lamar certainly doesn’t strike anyone as intelligent, his wonderlic score sure didnt help either. Wonder if that’s limited the offensive expansion , while also leading to pre play issue becuaee John and Roman can’t give the reins/freedom to Lamar.
There's more truth to your comments than most on here will admit. Fire Roman, don't fire Roman - it doesn't matter because at the end of the day, the Ravens will never get past the Chiefs, Bengals, and Bills to see a Super Bowl with Lamar Jackson at quarterback. Too many holes in his game and his legs/athleticism are only going to slowly diminish as he ages which will only make us less competitive against those 3 teams in the years ahead. The guy has been in the league long enough for all of us to clearly see he is never going to be a consistent, elite passing QB. I watch Mahomes, Allen, and Burrow and compare their command of the offense, decisive decision-making, passing accuracy, time clock management, etc and Lamar falls short of them - and I don't buy the lack of quality receivers excuse. Burrow spent a month lighting teams up with practice squad players at wide receiver and without Joe Mixon. Roman or no Roman, it's become increasingly clear to me that Lamar Jackson is not the answer to winning a Super Bowl in a league structured to favor elite passing offenses more than ever.

You like apples? I got her number , how you like them apples .

We need to start leaving math problems around the locker room. My guess for mysterious locker room genius : Ben Cleveland

folks have this weird insecurity with admitting Lamar’s shortcomings. Same shit with Joe back in the day , now we’re all able to be honest and laugh about Flacco. Same thing will happen with Lamar eventually. Kid is super talented , hopefully snags us another Super Bowl, but I’d imagine if it’s not next year it won’t happen in a Ravens uniform

I'm just looking a the team holistically in terms of what can get us a Superbowl. Lamar has his limitations no doubt, but better play calling and another receiver I believe would get us in position, not sure replacing him does that at least not in the short term and I want to win now. Not many people can argue Lamar isn't a top 10 QB and that imo should be enough.

Don't give a shit about who is the best in one position in a team sport. So Mahomes, Burrow, Allen even Zach Wilson can all be ranked higher for all I care.

I think the issue is the criticism extends further than his actual shortcomings.

Like I said- Greg Roman led offenses have routinely led the league in delay of game penalties and it was a legitimate criticism dating back to SF/Buffalo, but we're criticizing Lamar for not getting up to the line fast enough and then saying he has no command of the offense because of it? It's just reaching.

Yea i agree it’s a team sport, too much praise or blame goes to QBs. Also agree Lamar belongs in that 6-10 range when it comes to QB talent. I’d love to roll with him as the QB long term for a reasonable price.

Don’t think that’s happening though, if Lamar sticks to his guns. I don’t want to over pay for a depreciating on field talent. Even if we do, I have a feeling this is the second of many years where small injuries rob him of 2-5 games a year. He naturally loses some of the athleticism and that’s the majority of his game.

In a perfect market the best would earn the most, the second the second most and so on, but the market is imperfect and when it's your turn to pay your QB then typically you are paying them at the top of the market as the risk of trying to find a replacement at the same level is so high.

Get him a new coordinator next year and draft a WR early and tag Lamar and see what happens then commit.

RSR is something else, they’ve convinced themselves Lamar isn’t coming back and it’s in his best interest to sit out and let Huntley struggle. Instead of coming back and making a playoff run

Dang Marine you going to tick some people off calling our boy dumb lol. Nah, I know what you mean and Roman is a big part of the problem like you mentioned. Hopefully we get to see Lamar with a new OC before he leaves Baltimore and that will shows us how much was on Roman and how much is on Lamar.
Do this on Reddit and they’ll call you a white supremacist

Alright I’m gonna have to call you out on that, I have no idea where this narrative is coming from that Burrow was lighting it up with practice squad players. He has 3 #1s, Chase goes down and he still has Boyd and Higgins. Also the Browns shut him down and damn today had so many lucky things go right for him.

Not for anything but Lamar is what, 6-1 against the Bengals or something and beat Mahomes and Allen before
