I mean, this is also clearly a PR in his ear type of thing. They know they need to answer without answering, because it's starting to gain media traction. I'd be internally they have an idea when/if he's coming back, but it does them no good to share that at this point because it's hard to predict any of that with accuracy.

They should have just said something like we feel that he will be playing again this year - at least we hope he can, and left it at that from the beginning. A medical site I posted a while back said the recovery was 3-4 weeks, but that returning to full activity could resume at 8. And that was if there were no complicating factors. I'm always dubious regarding timetables on any kind of injuries, but ankles and knees worry me the most. Just completely unpredictable.

edit - and I'm not saying they are trying to mislead anyone or be less than forthcoming. I just think they don't know and sometimes THAT's the best answer.
