Lamar Jackson

Was Flacco an MVP level player at any point in his first 5 years (or ever)?
Regular season, no. Playoffs, yes.

Pros and cons to both. Players who are great in the regular season but underperform in the playoffs rarely win anything substantial, beyond the individual awards that fans don't care about.
Conversely, quality playoff QBs also have issues making it to the playoffs. Or what we saw the last four years of Flacco.

Jeff also said earlier this month that it's not Lamar's style to be too involved with coaching and personnel decisions
Nobody should care at all whether Lamar is consulted over coaching decisions. He's not under contract, and there's no guarantees he'll ever be under contract again. Why would I hire an OC for a QB not knowing if he'll be here long-term or not?

exactly. Thats why you need both lol

Aye man, we carried that man into the playoffs. Lamar carried us to the playoffs. We were built for those battles back then. You could count on our defense doing something
So on the all time Ravens team, Lamar takes you to the playoffs, and Flacco wins once there.

Might as well quit while we are ahead then.

Wrap it up ravens nation. Let’s declare him a bust and give up and go 0-16 so we can draft another bust QB
If we are gonna go 0-16 , Huntley would have been 0 for this year . He was not and should have beaten the Bengals except for his dumb decision to try to go over the top at the goal line .

No, the ravens of old win once there, not just flacco. Joe flacco was not responsible for the WC or div round wins in 08, the WC win in 09, the WC win in 10, and even the div round win in 11. Joe flacco turned into January Joe for real when he faced Tom Brady in the 2011 AFCCG, before that we were often winning in spite of Joe. We were forcing turnovers every playoff game for years and it was always the difference

Right, but the thing that I saw is that in the playoffs, Joe could always step up if necessary, and that's not something we've seen from Lamar.

Article from a couple of years ago that kinda clarifies your post.

Joe was not stepping up until the 2011 AFCCG though. He had ONE moment of stepping up prior to that, and that was his pass to Todd heap to set up the game winner in Tennessee in the 08 div round. Otherwise he was along for the ride.

With Lamar we have a roster that has some pieces to help Lamar out, but many of them have been injured for 2 years now and Lamar has been forced to carry the team with no receivers, no rbs, up until this year we had nothing on the OL, it was Lamar and andrews and if those guys aren’t on fire then Lamar can’t carry us.

I hate to break it to ya man, but ray rice was the driving factor of that offense from 09 up until the 2012 playoffs, Joe flacco did in fact step up in those playoffs, big time, but if you rewatch those game you might be surprised to see how many times Joe dumped it off to a blanketed ray rice and he willed his way to a first down, we do not come close to a SB appearance without ray rice converting countless first downs that at the time seemed inconsequential

Yeah.
The ebony bird article says how he threw 1-6 TD-INT fore his first 5 games
and then 25-4 his next 10.
He was good after the 2011 AFCCG.

lol....I think you're exaggerating a bit here to make a point.

In 3 games in 2008 he had 437 yards 1 TD 3 INTs completing 44% of his passes
In 2 games in 2009 he had 233 yards 0 TD 3 INTs completing 53% of his passes
In 2 games in 2010 he had 390 yards 3 TDs 1 INT completing 64% of his passes (not really much yards but at least turnovers stopped)
In 2 games in 2011 he had 482 yards 4 TDs 1 INT completing 57% of his passes

Tell me which of these screams "stepped up" because these numbers look like "was along for the ride" more than "stepped up".

2011. And ironically, I only watched him in 2011

The longer Lamar's contract saga goes on , the less likely it is he will be a Raven imo. And if the exclusive franchise tag is activated ,
I really think he will be gone.

Please end this madness now !!!!
