We paid him about 25m last season and I'd expect it to be about 25 to 30m in year 1, which is easy to do. We are at the point of restructuring Humphrey's contract anyway, which won't do much to future years anyway and that could save us 7m right there. If we sign Lamar, we can be active in free agency. Not saying we sign the top free agents out there, but certainly more active than the exclusive tag, which is what I believe they do. The exclusive tag will count 32.5m against the cap until 5 days before the draft, which is also the last day of restrictive free agency. Once that happens the exclusive number will be able to be calculated. The avg of the top 5 salaries, per position

This is true, those guys are respectable game managers and purdy could become more, they can distribute the ball to the playmakers around them, Lamar IS the playmaker lol, Jimmy g or purdy on the ravens is probably gonna be ugly

I don't know. Not comparing Shanahans teams, just giving a hypothetical.

If you had a team that had won 1 super bowl over a 20 year period and was basically meh over the rest of the years vs. a team that hadn't won a super bowl over the same time period but was always in contention to win the division and consistently got to the playoffs, I think I'd pick the latter as the team to cheer for.

I agree.

I was just saying that the fully-guaranteed aspect that they're fighting over, wouldn't really affect cap space one way or another. They'd more able to move money around if Lamar signed any long term contract, no matter how much of it was guaranteed.
 
I think we pretty much know at this point that the team has made their best and final offer as they definitely would have wanted this to be sorted out way before now. Whatever the differences are(no one here knows that) it seems likely that it’s Lamar’s position that needs to move to get a deal done. Again, I could be wrong but if that doesn’t happen I don’t see him being here this year.

Jimmy G and Purdy both are better than Huntley and Huntley did a respectable job when Lamar went out .

Which leads me to this… if we trade Lamar, I wouldn’t mind signing Jimmy G

Jk dobbins consisted of almost the entire offense while Huntley’s limitations were the precise reason for every loss and that’s going on 2 seasons in a row.

I still don’t think either of the niners qbs could’ve done jack shit with our offense. Without a star qb, you’re counting on Jk dobbins carrying the offense, there’s simply not enough to work with anywhere else on the roster

I'm not a Jimmy G fan at all. We saw what Shanahan could do with a 7th rounder - Brock Purdy isn't the next unfairly overlooked Tom Brady or anything. He'd probably look pretty bad on 31 other teams. I just think Shanahan's offense is so QB friendly it even got wins out of Nick Mullins.

I think any team signing Jimmy G would find they'd just paid a lot of money for a back up, and not a high end back up like Brissett or Dalton either, but just a guy.
