Lamar Jackson

You know, something I was just thinking. If no one makes Lamar an offer on this nonexclusive (we originally thought that would be great), it could actually have really negative consequences.

Imagine if Lamar says ok, nobody wants to give up the draft capital, money, and negotiate with me during the FA period when it's not a guarantee they'll get me. Fine, I'll play this year on the tag, hopefully stay healthy and get some playoff success. Then I'll be a UFA (or we put an extremely high second tag on him) and he can go test the waters with no restrictions at all. At which point he'll probably find many suitors.
The cost of the tag next year will be cheaper than we originally thought because we used the non exclusive. Two tags are now realistically in play from what I read

Comes to 44.3 aavg. Dang

I’m convinced Lamar is an idiot with no plan. My man thought this process was going one direction and than it quickly pivoted to another that is not favoring him

Nobody. Its actually what's been reported.

$133M gtd at signing. That's what he's referencing. Its been reported like a thousand times.

He just thinks its not enough. And he doesn't think the rolling guarantees are important.
so Lamar considers that rolling guarantees (which go up to 200 million ) are conditional guarantees and thus not fully guaranteed money ?
Is that what’s going on ?

What if ravens and lamar came to an agreement.. he wanted them to up to lets say 3yr 150 but they didnt wanna so they both agreed that if a team offers that, ravens will match it but if not he will sign original deal right before tag

Confirmed that he didn’t run down 200m guaranteed
Not really.

It's just a question of what you consider "guaranteed".

$133M is gtd at signing. It's what he gets no matter what. That's truly "guaranteed".

The $175M was injury guarantees beyond year 3. And the $200M was the practical guarantee, i.e. what he would get in the form of likely roster/option bonuses if he was on the roster.

$200M was never "fully guaranteed". The only thing fully guaranteed is what's guaranteed at signing.

For reference, Russell Wilson got $124M gtd at signing, which is #2 in the NFL. Watson got $230M. So there's about a $100M difference between what gtd at signing $ Watson got vs literally everybody else.

Hence, the gap.

For me, its further confirmation that Lamar wants either more guaranteed $ than Watson, or substantially more in gtd at signing than literally everybody else.

These dueling posts by the Ravens indirectly and Lamar on Twitter are the ugliest negotiations I’ve ever seen in Ravens history.

It’s bad for the Ravens and bad for Lamar .

Time to cut ties with a trade and end this madness .

Probably doesnt care about the gtd money that he may or may not receive.. if you gonna cut me before i get the rest of it, fk ya
OK, but why would he get cut? For the same reason anybody else gets cut... you're sucking, or you're injured.
And he's got injury guarantees already.

Again, his stance makes literally no sense unless he expects a fully gtd contract of any length.

i just don’t get why people can’t see that Lamar has been the problem the entire time. It’s not the Ravens being cheap or collusion with the owners. We’re a respectable franchise that offered him the second most (Watson) dollars at signing and incentives that are gtd. The Ravens would take on a 70 mil cap hit and crush the team if they cut him before the injury incentives(175).

It’s a legit question . I know you are a Lamar homer but really how many reports do you need to realize somebody’s lying. So you must think the Ravens Front office is lying.

You can call me whatever you like, I just didn’t play into all those reports that you posted.

You did, so you’d think that you have some clue of that number considering you played into almost all of them. Lmao

I gotta be honest... I really hope Lamar isn't that stupid.

IF the injury guarantee kicks in when 2024 league year starts, then he's a total fool for not considering that.

So lets say Lamar breaks his leg in 2023 and never plays again. In that scenario, he still gets $133M over three years.

If he doesn't sign the deal, and still breaks his leg in 2023 and never plays again, how much does he get in 2024 and 2025? Not a fucking thing.

Wake up.
