Lamar Jackson

OK, but why would he get cut? For the same reason anybody else gets cut... you're sucking, or you're injured.
And he's got injury guarantees already.

Again, his stance makes literally no sense unless he expects a fully gtd contract of any length.
Ok, and thats what he dont want…. Its that simple. I dnt wanna lose money if i get hurt or if i start sucking.. i mean yea. It doesnt matter if its for the same reason as everybody else, mf if yall believe in me like yall say continue to give me a chance till this contract ends

Cool. And nobody is going to agree with him on that. It's that simple.

So either he finds a way to write himself a check for exactly whatever arbitrary # he comes up with, he changes his arbitrary # to mesh with what the people who write his checks are willing to pay him (the definition of value mind you), or he sits at home and gets paid nothing.

I'm happy we're at this point. The ball is entirely in his court. If he thinks there's a better offer, bring it. If there's not, still your move.

There is so much bad blood between Lamar and the Ravens it seems that I really don’t think him being a Raven anymore will work . Lamar seems too immature to handle these negotiations and I understand it completely. Shit , he’s just 26 years old.

I think it’s in everyone’s best interest to trade him to a team for picks and players.

The sooner the better.

I still don't get it. How many years was the Ravens offer at 133 st signing
Unconfirmed. All Lamar confirmed was the $133M covered three years of guarantees. Which we already knew.

He didn't say if there were more years or more $ on the deal.

Honestly if it was just a straight 3 for $133M, fully gtd deal, its a little lower, but its not outrageously low either.

I just chuckle when I see people try to "deny" reports by being as non-specific as possible, and also by not just having the balls to say "here's what it was" and "here's what I want".

I think its abundantly clear to everybody why Lamar hasn't publicly stated what he wants...

I mean can you blame the FO though he hasn't finished 2 yrs in a row and still offered him a fair deal. No matter what he gets 133m and jumps up to 175m in 2024 for injury . His ass is being unreasonable not the FO.

i just don’t get why people can’t see that Lamar has been the problem the entire time. It’s not the Ravens being cheap or collusion with the owners. We’re a respectable franchise that offered him the second most (Watson) dollars at signing and incentives that are gtd. The Ravens would take on a 70 mil cap hit and crush the team if they cut him before the injury incentives(175).

On the money !

Ok can you explain the 175 and 200 numbers from Scheffters tweet? Doesn't the presence of those number imply more years after 3?

Yep and thats all to it.. atleast thats how i see it. Thats as simple as it gets but i understand that media has to talk about it everyday for views when im reality it doesnt get any simpler that what you just mentioned

Obviously you think that. I don't know that this is evidence of bad blood exactly, more that Lamar randomly gets upset at people talking about him online.

I have to admit I don't like this tweet though. Everything seemed to lining up for Lamar to re-sign in Baltimore, with only the Colts lingering as an ominous threat. I still think that's a strong possibility but I'm a bit less confident with Lamar sending out irritable tweets. It doesn't seem like he's too happy with the way things are going.

Correct. This really isn't even news. It's just confirmation of what we've already known.

And its confirmation that Lamar doesn't consider it guaranteed $ unless its guaranteed at signing.
So when Lamar tweets about 3 years , 133 million , he is leaving out the rest of the offer on guarantees later on .
Maybe Lamar should be more forthcoming about what was offered
Personally I don’t like it because it’s only presenting a partial picture of the true story.

You know, something I was just thinking. If no one makes Lamar an offer on this nonexclusive (we originally thought that would be great), it could actually have really negative consequences.

Imagine if Lamar says ok, nobody wants to give up the draft capital, money, and negotiate with me during the FA period when it's not a guarantee they'll get me. Fine, I'll play this year on the tag, hopefully stay healthy and get some playoff success. Then I'll be a UFA (or we put an extremely high second tag on him) and he can go test the waters with no restrictions at all. At which point he'll probably find many suitors.

2nd tag is actually fairly manageable now that we went non-exclusive

and there's a little bit of extra leverage earned back by the ravens because Lamar can't wait it out and be paid market value on the tags right now either - he's getting well below market value on this year's tag now so he's beginning to lose money vs what he'd get on an extension

the risk now is that there are relationships here that cant be fixed...

i dont understand why 133m seems to be the ravens redline in terms of fully guaranteed money when in reality they're offering basically 175m fully guaranteed (only way he doesnt get that extra 42m is if he retires before 2024 as far as im aware)

we knew that already though - that's basically what those 5 year deals were - 133m fully guaranteed with 2 years tacked on with other roster bonuses and money
So what's his problem? 3 years is not enough? That AAV is not enough?

Like would he sign a 3 year 150M guaranteed?
