Because furthering the idea that a cap conscious team like the Ravens as the villain in this is low-hanging fruit for idiots in the press... They've only recently even begun to consider that Lamar hasn't completed the last two seasons as a potential red flag for teams not showing the anticipated interest. It's been conspiracy theories so far, collusion among owners to walk back guaranteed contracts, NFLPA meddling... no one really knows, but those are fun to talk about and both add fuel to the fire. But if that's true, then why are the Ravens as are being reported, pinching every penny? Why hasn't Lamar already understood he has 0 market whatsoever and already resigned as to not be under market value?
I don't accept any Ravens as villain arguments. I also don't think there is much in the Lamar is the villain either argument either. I think you have an impasse. And I think that impasse extends to most teams in the league if ultimately Lamar's demand is better numbers than the only totally guaranteed contract in the league.
