The Ugly, The Ugly and The Win I Guess???

Why does it seem we were doing spread formations and going 3wr sets when Huntley came in but we haven't been doing it with Lamar?
Lamar is a bigger threat in the running game than Huntley. When Huntley is in the game you spread the formation out so he can make quick throws (i.e. slants, outs, drags, etc.).

You ever had a crowd of angry, possibly unruly people shouting at you with rage? Lol. I think not. It’s sure to be unnerving and therefor I feel bad for him. Yeah, there’s arguments he needs to go, but he still just a human being being treated like an object of extreme pissed off ficus.
I agree with you, but I didn’t play for tickets to watch that offensive performance yesterday like those frustrated fans. I was sure screaming what they were at my house and on the game thread. I admit I forget it is just a game. Harbs is not one to get rid of his friends. He and Biscotti will probably end up seeing this. Whether it makes a difference, I am not sure, but watching that and then watching film of this putrid offense, I would have to believe a serious talk has to take place. In 2012 we were 9-4 and fans were RABID SICK of Cam Cameron after four miserable seasons of his offense and had enough. He was replaced in week 14 for Jim Calwell and we went on to win a Super Bowl. This almost feels the same to me.

I was really pissed with the Broncos defensive play . They seemed to be doing a lot of head hunting and there could have been quite a few more personal fouls for blows to the head.
Dirtiest fucking team we have played in years.

Just to help me get it straigh: a guy on the Internet saying Lamar does not deserve a big contract is a troll that needs to be put down. A guy yelling profanities at Roman is a folk hero?
Just trying to learn the rules here
Seems like you've learned them to me.

No the internet guy wasn’t a troll and that guy yelling was not a folk hero. Those two incidents are just examples of how a football player and a sports fan can get carried away and lash out too harshly.

I'm in complete agreement with you here. I just found it interesting how some people (not you) had opposite reactions to those two incidents because they have different opinions on Lamar and Roman. And I was being a bit sarcastic about that.
That said, I don't think either of those two are big issues to be upset about so pretty much two non-issues.

i think he's gone either way tbh - he's got a nearly 6m cap hit and we save nearly 4.5m by cutting him
Though there's a large chance you're right, I'll be livid when they cut Gus. Hands down my favorite player on the offense. And since Boyle is 100% going to be cut, there goes another of the players I like. I'll probably have to get myself a Humphrey jersey if this happens.

And that has to do with me not feeling bad for Roman, how exactly?
It doesn't. Most people think they should never feel sorry for rich people because they're rich and being rich solves all their problems. Hence why the rich are rich and the poor are poor.
Mostly just pointing out it takes a special breed of pathetic to do what this guy did, and Roman is better at what he does than whatever this guy does. And Roman's not very good at what he does either.

The rules are that, when you're rich, you're not allowed to complain about anything. You're rich, and other people are poor. The poor get to make fun of the rich because they're the poor and the other guy is the rich.

Making fun of rich, successful people is good. Making fun of unsuccessful, poor people is bad.

Those are the rules. And they are are rigid.

Though in this case, I did enjoy the part where the idiot's solution to the problem was... have the rich person make more money.

That's so "on-brand"...

Took the thought right out of my head here. Both the guy yelling GRo and Lamar need to be smarter. Also thinking there may have been some alcohol involved with the fan's outburst.

Did anyone else think the sack that injured Lamar was a personal foul?

I saw it a few times and isn't the rule now, unlike many years ago, where you cant bring down your full weight on the QB ?

Here's the rule: a defensive player must not unnecessarily or violently throw him down or land on top of him with all or most of the defender’s weight. Instead, the defensive player must strive to wrap up the passer with the defensive player’s arms and not land on the passer with all or most of his body weight.

On the topic of Bateman, I remember seeing a tweet of EPOA with Bateman and without Bateman (this was around week 4, so Lamar was still playing well) and the difference was EXTREMELY stark.

And it makes sense. Who's challenging deep consistently and winning for the Ravens now without Bateman? I suppose Desean Jackson, but he's good for like 5 routes a game, so he's not a great replacement. Robinson hasn't shown to be a consistent deep threat and I think we can all agree Duvernay is someone who you scheme open and get into horizontal space because his deep ball tracking isn't it.

Not to mention- you went from having Rashod take the attention of someone like a Sauce Gardner or a Pat Surtain to now having Duvernay or Robinson facing that match up. Like, come on, man. That's just not happening.

There is a large cascading effect because the Ravens receivers are already so weak, even with Bateman, and now they're legitimately worst in the league bad.

Bateman was crucial to this offence after we got rid of Hollywood

as you say no verticality of course - but more important he's the only guy who creates any sort of legitimate threat or fear in CBs when left 1v1 with his route-running and ability to break the way he does - and on top of that he makes plays after the catch with the ball in his hands

without him we've got very little reliable or competent route-running, we've got little to no vertical threat, we've got almost no YAC threat

it cannot be undersold just how massive losing him was not just because of his qualities but because of how awful what's behind him was...

no surprise that Mark Andrews was more efficient and dangerous with Bateman in the team too creating more space for him on those deep overs etc.

we 100% need to add another weapon to this offence with Bateman's lack of reliability in 2023 - but that doesnt change how much the loss of Bateman has knee-capped this offence

sure, but Lamar would be terrific in a spread and he has proven it in the past.
