WRs are simply too expensive. Been saying for at least 3 years now we should behave like the Steelers with respect to drafting WRs. It's more true now than ever.
In recent times we've tried to be better about drafting WRs but our system has sucked so bad it hasn't mattered.
Commit to drafting them and don't fuck them up this time.

Yep. We CAN NOT stop trying to draft WRs. Obviously, it depends on what the board looks like before we pick.
i mean Meyers should be making that sort of money if christian kirk's getting 18/yr
but meyers is also clearly (to me at least) the top WR on the market so will get a bump because of that too most likely

Well, for context, the Rams can easily afford Ramsey. His cap hit is basically the same as last year, and they could easily restructure if they wanted to.
The problem is he's "only" due $17M next year, and Ramsey woke up and thinks hes underpaid, so he wants a new contract. Rams don't want to pay him a new contract.
Note that a trade pre June 1st only nets them like $5.6M in cap space. Large chunk of his 2023 is already fully guaranteed.

They lose $7M with a pre-June 1 cut, not a trade. Pre-June 1 trade nets them $5.6M in cap space, with a $19.6M dead money hit.
Difference is the $12.5M gtd portion of his salary for this year. If they cut him, they still owe him that. If the trade him, acquiring team would acquire it.

Yeah not really meaningful though. Especially when you consider how productive the offense was compared to spending.
It's a product of a QB on a rookie deal and most of your quality offensive players on rookie deals also.
The funny thing for me is like the only thing people can legitimately bitch about on the offense is lack of spending at WR. And if we spent $20M a year on a high end WR, we'd still be bottom five in the league in total offensive spend.
Also find it comical when people wake up and realize this today, yet many of us have been saying this since 2018/2019, when we had offensive-heavy drafts for several years and pretty much all of the young talent was on the offensive side of the ball.
Plus, look at the top 10. I'd rather be us than most of them. Half those teams are spending lots of $ on offense and struggle heavily to put points on the board and win games.
and many of those teams that spent a lot on offense weren't very good.
