The 2023 Offseason Thread

True, Converted DC Matt Patricia might have saved Roman from last place, but at least the Patriots only kept him employed for 1 season.

Why are you defending EDC's clumsy statement? There's no way a GM should be saying something like that about his own players, even accidentally. Especially since the Ravens are still going to be relying on Bateman to be one of their top two WRs next season.

Do Rbs love Romanball? Mike Davis seemed to be defending Bateman and JK has criticised his usage too
I'm defending it because he basically said the same thing months ago and was praised for it. Did he not specifically say "we need to overhaul the WR room" in the post-season presser? Where were the people saying that was inappropriate? He's telling players under contracts that they're going to have lots of competition and several won't be back. What part of that is concerning?

Roman wouldn't be last place either. It's just most fans don't pay enough attention to other teams to know who's garbage. I'd take Roman over Kliff Kingsbury by a gigantic margin, who's a popular name known for good offenses (which he doesn't have).

Mike Davis is defending Bateman's position on the strength/training staff not being up to par. Is that on Eric?

I think that might have been more about no one asking him about Campbell than anything else
Right but I think it comes down to most people, like me, assuming if Campbell wanted to come back, he would, and that we'd just do an extension or restructure of some kind to keep him.
I'm not sure that's a given. Doesn't fully sound like that feeling is mutual, depending on what the price tag is going to be.

On the bright side… surely they can’t trade Lamar now with all this heat on them can they? The flock would riot lol

Sure they can. How does the flock anticipate being able to improve the roster if the QB costs $45M on a franchise tag?
In my experience, a lot of the flock hasn't figured that out yet, or had the foresight to even consider the ramifications of anything other than "just make it happen because the fanboys say so".

Do people really think the FO is going to alter its plans and contingencies because Bateman is unhappy? Really? Part of the contingency should involve upgrading the WR room to a level where we don't have to depend on Bateman as much. That's what happens when your #1 WR misses 50% of your games over a two year period. You partially plan for life without him.

I still think he’s gone lol

Lol, IDK, I’ve heard the flock fanboys carry a lot of weight in the annals of their own minds.

By waiting for the notification saying that Lamar has been extended and this saga will finally come to an end. It's the only feasible answer to your question. Wishful thinking on my part but still.

Sure. That's also like step 1 in like a 10 step process to upgrade this team.

works both ways. Franchise tag and you still have Lamar. No franchise tag and trade him you don't have Lamar and you hope you can land another QB who is as talented.

I dnt think what edc said was wrong.. i mean we did need better wrs.. duv and proche arent it.. bate also sounds like crybabay too. I like edc more now.. seems like he gonna say it how it is

Yes, it was towards a tweet from a reporter about what EDC said regarding WR questions yesterday. Basically EDC said they just need to keep trying at WR because the guys they've gotten haven't been good enough. Guess Bateman took offense to the fact that his GM said literally the most obvious thing ever about that position group.
Plus Bateman missed the part where EDC raved over Bateman and how excited he is to see him back

This whole Steve Saunders situation is not a great look for the Ravens. Would he even have been released if this NFLPA survey didn’t happen? It seems like he should have been fired a long time ago and wasn’t. Is this another case of someone being buddy buddy with Harbaugh? Several players are straight up blaming him for their careers being derailed. I’d go so far as to say that this is worse than us keeping Greg Roman as long as we did.

imagine blaming your injuries on someone lol..theyre just looking for someone to blame.

This team dnt need a complete overhual though lol.. we can not make any improvements besides resigning lamar and we will still go out there next season and compete.
Yeah, missing on a lot of people is that there is a bunch of talent on this team. If they can get out of this shit storm and operate normally they will be fine, with or without Lamar.
