The 2023 Offseason Thread

I can understand what you're saying. And I could simply turn out to be wrong on this next statement. Time will tell. But my expectation is that the depth a CB we will have this year following adding MP/RYS will be better than the OL depth 20 or 21, but it won't be amazing. Ultimately meaning if we suffer a big injurg there we will absolutely feel it, but I don't think it will kill us if there aren't other really substantial injuries compounding with it.
I don't see us keeping more than 9 or 10 on OL with multiple players that can play various positions, so I'd agree the CB depth or atleast DB depth will be more than OL, but thats CB/S.

Right but, per usual, you are one injury away from Humphrey being Bateman and Peters being Duvernay. Which is to say... Peters is your CB1, and the CB 3/4/5 are now elevated into more action, possibly rotating more, and thus, will potentially either shine or get exposed more.

The ONLY saving grace I have for the group currently is (which they may do anyway) Hamilton's ability to play the Nickel. They can make Stone a more full-time player.
And the only thing you can really argue there is you can’t always 2 cb1 caliber guys on your roster, in which case it is what it is. Hope like hell we can stay healthy for once, same as every year

That’s a fair concern which is why I’m bigger on bringing back peters
We definitely need the CB depth but I just love how MP and Ro feed off each other. Dog energy are defense was missing

What's the difference between Apple and RYS?
quite frankly not that much. The only thing I'm wondering is if RYS hasn't reached full potential due to playing in that Raiders defensive and if he would be a better fit here. Eli Apple is much more of a zone corner than a man corner and fit the Bengals defense very well. Apple had 60% of coverage snaps were zone vs RYS having 53% of his coverage snaps in zone. Eli Apple's man coverage was awful vs RYS was about as good in zone as he was in man coverage, which is about average.

Agreed. It was more tongue and cheek. Apple gets shit on because of all the memes and his social media presence, but I agree, the only real differences between Apple and RYS is scheme fit. Has very little to do with talent or quality of the player.

Just funny how these narratives work. We'd shit on EDC if he brought in Apple, but we'd praise him for RYS. Very weird.
