Also, there's at least open questions today about whether Bateman or Bowser will start on the 53. Bateman, in my opinion, may be a prime PUP candidate, since that would put him out all of September. Bowser looked pretty terrible hobbling around when camp started, and I haven't seen anything about progress there. So its possible there's two open spots for the first month if they both go on PUP to start the season.

A bit unknown on RYS also, but he'd have to go on IR after final cuts, and it sounds like his injury isn't serious enough that he is unavailable week 1.

I'm with you for the most part, and even my disagreements aren't really true disagreements if that makes sense.

Big ones I question are Gordon making it, Mustipher not, and Harrison not.

On Gordon, I do think it's highly possible, but struggling to see what value he provides if you keep him, guarantee his salary, and then he just sits on the inactives (because he doesn't play ST) all year. Think they'd sooner cut him and do some PS gymnastics for awhile if they really wanted to keep him around. Probably dependent on JK getting back soon-ish.

On Mustipher, I think the player is bad. But we also have no true backup C in this scenario. Sure Mekari could do it, but that means his practice reps come at C during the season and you lose his T reps which is seemingly where they like him more. Again, not saying Mustipher has to make it for that reason, but seems like a prime position that we might be looking to upgrade if we can and Mustipher is as bad as he's been to this point.

On Harrison, I just don't see a reason to move on at this point. Plays teams, and has inside-outside versatility on D. I think I've said it before where he hasn't necessarily lived up to the hype, but he's putting together an Albert McClellan-like career which still has plenty of value. He played the most ST snaps on the team last year.

Just a related note, but I do think they'll take advantage of the 3rd QB rule eventually even if not right off the bat. Think they'll chance it early on but if someone gets banged up, think they'll move a QB to the 53 in short order.
I don't disagree either. But let's say they dont keep Gordon and keep Mustipher and Harrison. Who is the person I kept that you're cutting?

I think they'll keep a 7th Corner (or 5th Safety, depending on how you view somebody like Washington) over a 6th Dlineman. But other than that, I think the list is fine.

Would also say that I don't really see a backup Center on this list. Mekari has played there, but I don't think they like him there. If Cleveland can only play Guard, and is no better than the 4th Guard by the time roster cuts come, I think they're either cutting him or trading him. They value positional flexibility on the Oline, and so far, he doesn't have any.

So I would probably take Mustipher (if he's the backup C) over either Simpson or Cleveland, depending on who finishes lower on the depth chart at roster cuts.
Could see Mustipher over Cleveland.

The thing about Mustipher vs Cleveland is kinda silly though right? Because if keep Mustipher, you don't have a backup G. You're gonna ask Mekari to fill in.

John Simpson or Sala (depending on who wins the starting job) is your backup G in this scenario

My roster construction questions

QB: 2 or 3? If 3, Johnson or Brown?
RB: 3 or 4? If 4, Gordon or Mitchell?
WR: Who wins WR6? Likely between Wallace, Proche, and Black at this point
TE: No questions
OL: 9 or 10? If 9, who is the odd man out from Mustipher, Simpson, and Cleveland?
DL: 5 or 6? If 6, likely Blackson
OLB: Do we add a vet? If so, likely keeping 5.
ILB: The ultimate how many and who question - could be anywhere from 4 to 7
CB: Probably a good idea of how many at 6, but who are CBs 3-6?
S: Not much question
ST: No questions

Weird year in that the question at a lot of positions is more than quantity and not necessarily the who. CB is the big one that seems completely open, and ILB too depending on the numbers. Otherwise, guys are competing for maybe 1 spot. Not a lot of "surprise" that I see right now but that can always change.

Correct. The loser of Simpson/Sala in that competition is the swing Guard. And yes, Mekari would be your 4th Guard.

So if you carry nine...

Tackles: Stanley, Moses, Mekari, Faalele
Guards: Zeitler, Sala, Simpson
Center: Linderbaum, Mustipher

In that case, Mekari would also be the fourth guard (or Mustipher, theoretically). Realistically, if you get to that point, you're looking at P/S call-ups or FAs.

I think Cleveland needs to at least proves he's the #3 Guard, and/or develop positional availability at another position, in order to make the team. Hence the reason he was getting snaps at Tackle in OTAs.

I’m so fucking excited for Ham-Ham

We have a ton of small injuries keeping guys out if practice right now. Also Mullen is done for the year.
Mullen is probably a confirmation that whatever injury he has was going to keep him from factoring into the competition, so get another body at CB in here that can practice and maybe contribute.
