2023 Forum Mock: Discussion Thread

So now that it's official, just a quick few thoughts.

1) Last night I kept thinking, "damn I'm gonna have to overpay for one of these mediocre receivers, or overdraft a guy at 13 who's potentially just as mediocre. WR is a major need for me. I wonder if I can shop a pick around for a guy on his rookie deal, there are a lot of great rookie WRs." Cowboyfan1 wanted both first round picks which I was kind of unsure of at first. However, he threw in a guy coming off a solid year at the edge position who is only 25. At that point I was wanting to deal.

2) CeeDee gives Fields a number 1 WR who he can absolutely grow with. Major, major need crossed off.

3) Yes, I basically forfeited the entire draft until late rounds. But I am very happy to count CeeDee as my 1.7, and Dorance as my 1.13, as both are still young and not fully in their primes. CeeDee can be another DeAndre Hopkins if he keeps working. Dorance can learn from Chandler and Maxx.
Wish I had a #1 receiver lol

@Ndub67 Edmunds was my first round pick back in 2018. His tape was amazing and he was only 20 years old. He went through some growing pains and finally put it together this season. I almost bid on him, but didn't have enough cap space to bid on two guys and still fill out my roster. Good get and at a very good price.

Thank You Sensai

Side note: I am really liking this new process so far. Like that people are able to pivot and see the market and make moves to adjust

Only thing I’m thinking in phase 2 is to stop quoting winners. Not too bad for this session but feel like the next ones could get too busy to weed through bids and win declarations

I’m sorry man, I didn’t quote my bid for the first two “wins” but after seeing a lot of others doing so I did for Payne just to say Chicago is bringing the Payne lol

That's my fault. I quoted a winner first and everyone followed suit. I just searched the last bid on Bradberry in the FA thread and saw that the last bid was 7:56. Definitely will be busier in the upcoming FA threads so I'll refrain from quoting winners.

I second that. I really like this new format so far. The 7 Star Phase propably will be absolutely busy

Should we quote them into the Discussion Thread?

What’s even better that I just realized is that CeeDee got most of his yards and did his most work in the slot. Both Mooney and Claypool are outside guys

I’m liking posts to denote winners as I can in the interim, unless someone has a better solution

Y'all good though. We're learning. I personally anticipated more of a rush right as FA opened so didn't think it would be a big deal, but like that you guys are slow playing and not rushing, so we probably just need to be mindful going forward.

Don't care for the rest of this session as there aren't a ton of outstanding bids.

Next session for everyone: don't feel slighted if you miss this convo and I delete your quote winner posts. Just trying to keep it clean.

Maybe a separate thread for the mods to officially declare winners? Keeps things organized and gives the players an easy place to find who's off the market. With other people liking bids, I think it would help to have another way for the winners to stand out.

or just FA: Win thread

Lots of great signings, obviously. I know that the Arthur Smith system was favorable, but Kaleb McGary should be an immediate road grader.

Now that he's officially signed, I really like the CJ Gardner-Johnson pickup for the Colts. He was my pivot guy if someone stole Hargrave from me.
