2023 Forum Mock: Discussion Thread

Now that we're in the midst of the heaviest portion of FA so far, did want to open it up for any thoughts on the new process. Curious how everyone feels it's going, and open to any suggestions as well.

I dig it

I like it overall, only potential thing is maybe keep the time limit at 24 hours so it is a bit easier for people to check in on things although 12 has been enough so far

Yeah we had been discussing the time. Probably going to bump the last session up to 12 instead of 8. Phase 2 likely to go to 24 hours next year as well. Phase 3 maybe somewhere in between.

The thing I've liked the most so far personally is that I've had time to pivot. If I lose out on a guy, I know early and can move on to another target. Hated the previous format where I'd be winning a player for 23 hours and 54 minutes, and then get outbid and screwed at the last minute and didn't have time to adjust.

Yeah at the end of the day I feel like all of my complaints are due to things I could do better like bidding on other players first or being more available which is good. Used to be a mad rush at the end and possible to get locked out and not able to make adjustments. This is much nicer

I can think of a lot worse things than a 1-2 punch of Tony Pollard and D'Onta Foreman... like a 1-2 punch of Latavius Murray and Ty'Son Williams

A heads up. For the SoFs, in the trade details, we prefer it to match example as closely as possible. And this wasn't openly stated, but if the picks are listed before the players, it'll help us with setting up the big board and the calculations when we're doubling checking the tables.

I'm in the middle of double checking the depth chart and SoF entries and there will need to be adjustments made, especially for those in the negative. That includes the ability to remove the then-invalid FA bids, or potentially cutting and/or trading out of the net negative.

can you rescind your bid after winning?

I like the new FA system! Only thing i mentioned to @Truth about it is the starting time, which kinda sucks for us europeans as it is 1am, which will especially suck in the last FA perios which starts at 1am and ends 6 hours later at 7am, not ideal so maybe we can find a better solution for that.

What makes the whole FA phase a bit meh is that a lot of SoF´s are not updated and a mess, especially the capspace, which (at least for me) sometimes impacts my bids on certain players when another team bids as well. So that needs to be fixed in the future, but was mentioned a few posts before as well.

I couldn't pass up on bringing Cook in when I saw the chance of being able to sign him. Akers/Cook/Herbert are a deadly trio, especially combined with the running ability of Fields
