(Never) Too Early Prospect Watch

i dunno... and i never thought id say that this year - maybe not a 1st round guy but we need someone to at least push flacco
i still think oline is the way we have to go but my god i feel awful and a little hopeless after today
I'll need to put it down and admit it: I don't believe in Flacco. I started watching the Ravens after the SuperBowl trip, and I haven't seen one game since I started watching that made me feel like Flacco was trustworthy. I'm sorry, I hate being this guy, I'm no negative Nancy or overreactor, but I'm watching Flacco since the 2015 season and it just goes from bad to worse with now back injuries. I agree the OL is horrible but at some point when you can't trust your QB to step up when the rest isn't working, I think it's time to try something new. It's not my type, the only guy I asked to be fired was Trestman, because the WAS game was and still is the biggest joke of a gameplan I've ever seen. Back to subject, Flacco hasn't won us any game since I can remember (Steelers WC 2014 maybe?).

Honestly, if Lamar Jackson is there in the second, do you pull the trigger?

i really thought flacco was taking the next step in 2014 - he had time and looked phenomenal but i agree that i havent been convinced since

but im not a big fan of lamar jackson as an nfl qb from what ive seen so far tbh

I mean, I didn't believe a lot in Jackson at the beginning of the year but I tend to really appreciate players who prove me wrong. Jackson has made tremendous strides and looks more like an NFL QB. His pocket presence is way better, and to stay as composed as he is when he has no OL to speak of is impressive. Come to speak of it, the overall talent around him is putrid, you wanna talk about someone making the people around him better, he's that. Admittedly I need more focused tape watch on him, but he just looks like a guy I'd give a 2nd round pick for and maybe not start him Day one but given a year he can become the face of the franchise and that's what I'd want.

there are so many times i see him play and he's got a good pocket but he doesnt stay in there he just runs out of it way too early and sometimes makes his own problems - i mean i guess if we are drafting him we are drafting him as a project behind flacco but he'd need an awful lot of work

I really like QB Clayton Thorson from Northwestern. I think he's going to be really good and he's one of the guys I would like for us to get to replace or back-up Joe Flacco. I think he could really do well here. There's a lot to like about this guy and I encourage everyone to look him up if they haven't had a chance to watch him yet.

Im sorry but seeing the difference between Nick Chubb as a freshman to senior is astonishing. Hes lost so much explosivness from that injury. Its honestly sad

So, do we start looking seriously at the QBs?
Of course. Without question. I'm on record saying we make a play in the first round if we're convinced.
Don't care if we sacrifice picks. If it's a franchise quarterback who loves and lives football, go get him.

The difference between Senior and Junior is huge also.

Considering the hype surounding the top3, it would take the farm and the ranch and the whole town to get them, esp with teams like the Browns and Bills with immense draft capitals. It'd be cool to get a cheaper guy to developp like Jackson, Stidham, Falk, maybe Rudolph...

Probably. It depends where we finish but if I simply loved a quarterback I would consider a Bob Griffin type deal for certain.

I don’t think we need to do that here in this case but I don’t think we’re too far from being a contender either and I think Joe is probably one of the guilty parties holding us back now. Then again, @29BmoreBird22 and I were two of the only guys saying we should draft a guy like Goff if he’s there in that draft when everyone said we were crazy for suggesting it. I even like Flacco but I’m also not his biggest fan lately because of the constant mistakes he is making and costing us games and I think this team needs someone legitimate behind him.

Well, to me it's more that he doesn't do anything. The receiving corps he has would make some in the league jealous. It's better than a lot of people realize. He has talent all around him yet no one seems to produce with him at QB, he is holding our team back literally. He is our weak link when a QB is supposed to make everyone around him better, or at least capitalize on the talent around him.

I couldn’t agree more. He hasn’t been the same since Kubiak left and he has regressed in a major way. It’s strange because he looked great with Kubiak and same with Schaub. Maybe one of them ruined Joe lol because he didn’t look like this before they came here to Baltimore

nah. hes simply not a nfl style qb in my eyes. hes too much of a bob griffin type. more often than not he doesnt even consider his 2nd read and just tucks and runs, hes too small for the afc north, and he struggles to place touch on the ball at times.

if he was much larger, say 6'5" and 240, rather than 6'3" and the very low end of 200(school lists at 213) then id be able to overlook some of those things, as his ability to stand strong in the pocket and extend plays would negate a lot of his shortcomings, but at his size i dont think hes gonna be able to succeed in the nfl the same way he has in college.

its a shame though because hes really exciting to watch.

Name a prospect that, based on their position, should infuriate the shit out of you if we chose them, but their talent leaves you excited anyway.

For me, Bradley Chubb. Likely a 5T, maybe we need a 5T because I'm sure Urban is gone and I have little faith in kaufusi and I'm far from sold on wormley, and even if either of them reach their ceiling I think Chubb is a monster that this defense simply does not have, on a defense that(jet lag accounted for) may be the best in the league, Chubb would make a massive difference.

Also Known As the most-likely to be Ravens.
