The Good, the Bad, and The Ravens

Just watched it again, it was definitely a pass option play. He was rolling to the right looking at Snead in fine position to make the pass. He just short armed it. To quote Green, “he was so wide open he tried to hand it to him”. Maybe not the end of the world, but killed momentum .
It wasnt solely that play. They made the fourth down conversion if it wasnt for the flag. They got nothing going again after that series.

Cj Mosley is now 250lbs and in college he was 235. He needs to cut at least 10lbs because now he is just not agile enough. You don't need to carry 250 to be effective in the run game.

Mosley was abused on about 4 3rd downs today.

One was a quick out in man coverage of mccaffrey. A difficult assignment but one he stood no chance on, should have been young, of either variety.

The missed pitch to moore. He looked like he stopped for a second thinking it was an incomplete pass and then couldn't make the angle.

A pass right up the middle to olsen, he bit on the under route on a player that was covered by another raven.

He missed a tackle for a loss on a run up the gut by mccaffrey.

If we give this guy a lead leading contract for his position itl show me the new front office lead by de costa don't understand this league either. He's a 2 down player that plays 3 downs
I don’t understand Mosley . Last year it looked like he made some great strides in pass coverage . This year he’s back to being bad .

I don't and have no reason to - we beat them.
Fromm looks to me like a QB who needs everything around him to be ideal to be able to succeed.
Some people are of the mindset of not admitting that anyone from a rival school can't look good. But what gives you that impression about Fromm?

On Mosley: deep down, I’ve felt that an extension would be a bad idea, he has played through injuries for years now, he’s been a huge liability in man coverage, and he is going to get top dollar and it’s a recipe for disaster. Pros and cons...
pros:
High iq
Clear leader and field general
Typically does well in the deep center zone
Great run stuffer and great execution of improv blitz

Cons:
Liability in man coverage and victimized often
Slow and lacks range
Useless as a designed blitzer
Poor east and west pursuit on wide runs and crossing patterns
Has been injured more often than not
Is gonna command top dollar and eat up cap space for years while being either a liability or on the sideline

And that last con does it for me. We’ve destroyed this team for years by doing this. Don’t do it again

fair enough - i must have just misremembered it then

True, but it started the roll.

Just hard to wrap your head around all of the things that went the wrong way that could have gone the other way. The penalties, fumbles, drops, batted pass for a TD, etc.. Not just poor execution, but a bad day all around.

Hurst has Perriman Syndrome.

Common Symptoms:
-1st round pick
- Looks great in OTA’s, Training Camp, Pre-Season
- Random injury
- Dropped Passes
- Completely disappears during the season

Or is it the football yips?

Thing here is he’s not a “1st round QB” if we didn’t make him one, comparatively on the cheap. Ozzie’s farewell pick if you will. As was mentioned numerous times after the draft it’s not the end of the world if he doesn’t pan out. So yeah, no. Not saying that’s the case yet, but new coach or not, if he doesn’t look the part they won’t gamble trying to make him the guy just because he was chosen in the first round.
But we did make him one. We won’t know if he really looks the part until he gets playing time - significant playing time. Maybe he gets that at the end of the season but I doubt it. I expect we’ll be clinging to hope of salvaging this season to the bitter end.

I don’t think the organization is going to be keen on a hire that is ready to move on from Jackson the day he walks into the building because he’s not his guy.

There's always a possibility of Gruden trading himself to Baltimore, if he likes Lamar.
