The Good, the Bad, and The Ravens

Yeah I don’t really like the free agents this upcoming off season, other than DeMarcus Lawrence. I don’t see a guy that’s worth giving a ton of money to. I don’t see DeCosta blowing everything up in one off season. We should really try to dump Brandon Williams contract as soon as possible though. I think the earliest is post June 1 with a savings of over 9 million. I really like this interior d line class especially when it comes to rushing the passer. Quinnen Williams, Dre’Mont Jones, Jeffery Simmons and Jerry Tillery all look like every good players.
As badly as I wish we could draft Simmons, we won’t. That video of him ground and pounding that woman took him off our board entirely.

Whatever coach we hire is going to be an offensive guy who’s top priority is gonna be building a scheme for lamar, I absolutely can’t see it going any other way. We traded a future 2nd for him, he was the spark that got fans interested in the ravens again, even if he doesn’t pan out he is still gonna bring electric and exciting play that will give us reason to tune in for at least 2 seasons, he’s gonna be our guy until he proves otherwise, and the next coaching hire is gonna reflect that.
This is what I really want. I don't want to have to worry about the offense not being good enough or being inconsistent anymore. Maybe one of the top offenses is a little too much to ask for, but when the changes happen to this team, I would like to really build up the offense and create something that can consistently get the job done.

With a day to reflect, I think that the team looked past Carolina towards Pittsburgh. I’m convinced of it because we’ve never looked that bad even against Cincinnati. I really think we looked past the Panthers and that was our mistake. Not sure the coaches did or the players but someone big did

Had we beaten New Orleans, I could buy this. Having lost at home to the Saints the way we did, that's a hard excuse to make.

We nearly beat NO and I think we saw CAR as worse so we expected to go there and win. It’s not an excuse because I’m not saying CAR is bad. I actually think they’re good and we mistakenly looked past them expecting an easy win.

I agree, plus Carolina has a very good record at home.

I hope you are right, otherwise this season is a lost cause.

In the position were currently in, there is no more looking past any games - not even the Raiders. We can't afford more than 2 losses and there are a lot of losses on our schedule if we go and play like that again.

This team is not good enough to look past anyone. You are as good as your record states, we are a .500 team.

i'm not anti harbaugh, but i've had issues with many assistants he hires. If we fire him we better have a top offensive mind out there to replace him. Not sure if there is anyone out there this year.

I don't buy into all the Harbaugh being gone stuff at this point. I've been under the impression that even if the season had gone to complete shit, it seemed like the FO/ownership intended on providing stability in the organization with Lamar going forward.

I felt if the season went to shit he was gone which is why it confused me a little when we took Lamar. That can cripple a young QBs development and then there's the fact the next staff might not even want him.

I think you are right. Given the position we were in there’s no way anyone looked past Carolina. After a killer offensive start that could hardly have been better I think a series of crappy events took all the wind out of their sails. It seemed to be one thing after the other to the end. There were some crazy bounces on defense as well(DJ’s fumble that bounced right back in his hands, blocked pass for a TD, etc.) but it was painfully obvious they sorely missed Humphrey. Hopefully the home cooking gets them back on track and the bye provides time to refocus and get healthy. As you said they certainly have their work cut out for them now.

My reading on the situation is that it seems like Bisciotti was/is on board with giving Harbaugh and co. an opportunity to transition to Lamar as Franchise QB, regardless of how this season went, and I'm not conviced that anything he has seen up to this point has changed his mind on that.

If they do end up moving to a new coach, I doubt Lamar is going to be scaring any quality candidates off. He has seemed, up to this point, to be very patient and coachable. The 2019 QB class doesn't seem very high powered and having a choice to make on Flacco may actually be helpful with luring a coach as well.

I don’t think Harbaugh is gone even after this year. I really think he’ll stick around a bit longer

Cue meltdowns
I’m just being honest. If I’m thinking like Steve then I’m seeing a team who beat the Steelers and Titans away and a team who narrowly lost to the Saints by a fluke missed PAT and who lost to a Panthers team with a winning record as well as a Bengals team remaining competitive at the top of the division. The Browns is our only loss to a “bad” team
