Article: Crap Speculation. Kap to the RAVENS

Kap isn't happening either way. No need to take sides on a total hypothetical. To me it must be a football decision and not a political statement in any case. While I totally disagreed with Kap on his protest and disavow it, I can understand his 1st Amendment right to protest. Heck we allowed the Nazis to stage a rally in C'ville a couple of days ago! Why? Because it is protected under the 1st Amendment.

For me, not wanting Kaep started first and foremost as a football decision. I don't agree with Kaep or what he stands for but for me it comes down to cost-benefit analysis. The money we'd spend wouldn't be worth the short/long term impact it would present.

I believe they keep repeating the narrative just for clicks. I know there are teams that won't get Kap because of what he has done. But multiple teams have expressed interest and there are reports that he has had a few contract negotiations and nothing has come as of yet.
 
I hope people that say they don't agree with what Kaep stands for actually did research on what he stands for instead off following the media wave. I only disagree with Kaep on a few things and that was the socks and the shirt he wore that garnered media attention. Other than that Kaep protest was basically pointing towards the attention on how minorites in America are being treated unfairly which has been a issue for quite awhile now. No one can sugar coat or pretend like this country in general doesn't still have a problem with rascism , you can't deny that our beloved national anthem was created by a racist and was a slave owner , and it's just crazy and ridiculous to me that for so long the same issues that was present in the 60's is still alive today . It even more crazy that all these issues is present in a country that was totally stolen from the beginning

It's more than comparing apples to apples. If all you are comparing is which player is better, than I agree, Kaep is better. However there is more that is going into this decision. Anyway, this is the wrong thread for this.
 
Will we sign anyone else before season starts? I say we may still sign a rb or o-lineman. I wouldn't doubt we even trade for either. Thoughts?
 
Apparently there was a rally by NYPD officers supporting Kaepernick, calls for a NFL Boycott if he isn't signed. Apparently the Atlanta NAACP says there will be no football in Georgia if he is not on a training camp roster and given an opportunity to pursue his career. Well he was drafted in the second round, took over for an injured Alex Smith and led the 49ers to the Super Bowl. I would say he was given the opportunity to pursue his career the minute he was drafted by the 49ers.

I'm all for people wanting to protest and stand up for what they believe in, so as long as Kap continues with his peaceful protests then I have no problem with it. Now the bigger issue I see coming out of this is people trying to tell NFL Owners/GM/Front Office Personnel/Coaches how to do their job and that they MUST sign a guy. It's worse that the media(particularly PFT) is constantly beating the drum for him to be signed. While there may be football reasons(terrible QB) he isn't signed, the main reason and the media doesn't realize it, but they are the number one reason he isn't signed.

Look at all the attention this is getting. You really think teams want to deal with this, and answer to the media about why they signed him, what took so long, etc. The second he is signed by a team the attention goes right on him , and the focus is away from the team. Tim Tebow is a terrible QB but much like Kap, the media had a frenzy over him and brought so much attention to him that it took away from the rest of the team. If the media wasn't making such a big deal out of this, he'd be signed and been in camp and played in the preseason already. By the way, honestly I think with the way things are going in Jacksonville, I think they end up being the one to sign him and give him an opportunity when Bortles stinks it up, followed by Chad Henne stinking up on the field too.

Funny thing about Jacksonville is that it might be the spot his signing would get the least amount of coverage. If he gets signed and looks absolutely inept/horrendous, I can't wait for the people chirping for him to be signed run and hide.

With all of the pathetic news about Bortles being a regularity, I think it would be interesting to see Kaep in Jacksonville. At this point, why the hell not.

All the same things apply to the Ravens and Mallett, too. If anything, Mallett is looking worse than Bortles and Kaepernick would be a huge upgrade.

From an outsiders perspective the Kaepernick fuss is confusing. America was founded by people wanting freedom of speech, religon and conscience, wanting equality and democracy. Admirable principles. That is surely what your flag represents. How did people get from there to thinking that not venerating the flag is practically a crime? Freedom means the freedom to say things people don't like, doesn't it?

In the USSR people had to have acceptable political opinions in order to get certain jobs. Do Americans really want to a version of that system?

If I was asked to stand for the UK flag or anthem before work, I wouldn't do it, because I see myself as Scottish and don't support a monarchy.
That might mean you disagree with me but it shouldn't affect my job prospects.
 
Can we imagine for a second that we do sign Kaepernick. Imagine the first interception Flacco throws. This will turn into Troy Smith 2.0 all over again.

Surely that's a distraction we want and need.

Regardless if Kaep gets signed or not to any team, I honestly believe the NFL will lose some viewership (no idea how much) as a result of all of the division this whole situation has caused. For every individual that says they'll stop watching the league if he gets signed, there's another individual that will say they'll stop watching the league if he doesn't get signed.

It makes you wonder what would've happened if Kaep decided to opt in to his contract and stay with SF.

Doesn't that just mean you have a good back up QB? Which is a better problem to have than Mallett being so terrible that, no matter how badly Flacco might play, no one would call for him to start.

Kaep would not be a distraction but competition. Yes, the moment he signs it's going to be news and headlines. All kaep will need to do is hold that first press conference to talk about that issue and that's it. Any other press conferences after will be strictly football! Kaep takes better care of the ball and adds another element (legs) to the position. Flacco has thrown at least 10 int every year since he's entered the NFL. With the Ravens expecting there defense to be top 3 this season....we can win with Kaep. Mallet is awful and Flacco will be a sack away for being out the remainder of the season.
 
I'm not sure how Mallet is being judged as being "terrible". Just how many regular season NFL games has he played? I'm not saying he doesn't suck, but I am saying that there's hardly been an ample time period,to tell one way or the other.
