The Defence, The Passing Game and Closing it Out @ the Bengals

R0 talking a little shit in his presser lol I love it

Victory Monday..... so like Ravens shirt and Orioles Hat? Or do I wear an Orioles shirt and Ravens hat? I don't know what to wear tomorrow lol.

Defense needs some work... I think it will be much better once we get Marlon back, I know Marcus will be later on the year. We have got to clean up the mistakes, don't do stupid stuff to give the refs reason to throw a flag, looking at you JM. We saw today, they will throw flags for the softest reasons and can't put ourselves in positions to let them impact the game like that. Hopefully Odell's injury isn't serious but for the first time ever, this isn't going to kill our offense. We have multiple options, it's not like in the past where we would have signed Odell and if he got hurt, that was it.

I know every team lives and dies on their quarterback play but man six years in and Lamar is worried about playing hero ball instead of taking what the defense gives him. He could have checked down to Hill or Odell at one point, both were right there for easy catches but instead I think it turned into a sack because he wanted to play hero ball. The overthrows... that's still a problem too. I think it's a coaching issue because we went through the same with Flacco where he was making mistakes years into his career that he shouldn't have been making.

On to Indianapolis.

Lamar > Burrow

I stand by it. I have a lot of catching up to do on here, but I was enjoying the copium from the Bengals radio on the way back. They were definitely giving the Ravens respect and were disappointed the Bengals couldn't exploit our injuries, but they think they can flip the script just like last year. Guess we'll find out. We ran for 178 yards with our backup line and no Dobbins. Wow. Nelson Agholar! Zay Flowers.

Lamar owns them and they need to remember that, 7-1, and three against Burrow. We should have won by more today, we dominated.

Prior to 2021, Lamar REALLY terrorized the Bengals defense ESPECIALLY in Cincy. 2019 was the year where he had a perfect passer rating and 2020 where we ran for 400+ yards (Lamar ran for 97).

Then 2021 came around and the Bengals did everything they could in the offseason to ensure those performances never happened again. Lou Anarumo has done a pretty good job limiting our offense since then.

I must say, this is easily Lamar's best performance against the Bengals since 2020 if we're being honest. You love to see it.

Man, I'm in N.C. right now on business. I'm driving back home up to Chesapeake, VA tomorrow morning. The point is that while my wife and I were in the restaurant with friends today for lunch, I was watching the scores change on the apps. I was saying: "Please! Hold on Ravens, hold on!" The happiest time came when I saw the clock hit zero with the Ravens up 27-24. YES! Sweet victory over those bums! And that was with 5 of our key players out. Imagine had they all been there. WOW! Once again, Gus is a beast, Zay is a beast, Andrews is a beast and we already know about Lamar "L-Boogie" Jackson. The defense still needs a little work but hey, it's just week 2. They'll get it cleaned up!

Well, fellas, me, Mrs. Militant, and our daughter will be up in Baltimore at M&T Bank next Sunday LIVE and in living color to watch our boys drop the colts. Can't wait to get up there. My last visit was prior to the COVID-19 outbreak. This will be our view. It is my very first time EVER sitting up this high (I'm normally in section 127 rows 1-3 behind the Ravens) but I must be honest; I'm actually looking forward to being up there. Let's go get this "W" over the colts. GO RAVENS!

WOW. Crazy how important Faalele was in this win

it wasnt actually him in the 2nd clip (Moses had come to play LT in an unbalanced look)
but it was faalele in the 1st and 3rd as an extra OL

just really excited about the depth we have on our OL right now
we're 2 deep everywhere with guys i dont hate being on the field (except Sala)

LT: Stanley, Mekari
LG: Simpson, Sala (not ready yet)
C: Linderbaum, Mustipher
RG: Zeitler, Cleveland
RT: Moses, Faalele

there's going to be a bit of an overhaul next year at OL with likely Zeit and probably Moses gone too - and Simpson potentially also...
but we're well set up to replace at least 1 of them (and maybe all 3)

They might be forced with a decision at some point. 10 OL on the roster is a tough sell but they have some room right now and Mustipher is probably OL8 when everyone is healthy. It's when the other guys start coming back that you need to make a decision. Sala has more upside but seems far from the field, while Cleveland seems JAG-y.

right now there's not much of a roster crunch (depending on whether any of these guys who got injured last week are heading to temporary I/R)
you're right that 10 OL is a lot to carry but, as you say, Sala is clearly not in our plans right now, and they dont particularly seem to want Cleveland on the field either...

Man this was a really good Sunday. We didn’t just win, we beat a division rival, in their stadium, the 2x afcn champs, with 5 of our absolute most crucial starters out, and we fucking looked good doing it

it's the fact that, while the score was close, it really wasnt ultimately a close game (didnt stop me being brutally anxious the whole 4th quarter)

that 3 and out before the bengals last TD helped make things closer, and obviously the missed FG and the punt return TD made a huge difference too

it's really cool that this is a team right now that doesnt need injuries as an excuse but can overcome injuries at key positions to still dominate

even with Andrews playing - we were missing 3 of the top 6 cap hits on the team + Dobbins + Linderbaum

and yet their backups played really well - Mekari was exceptional in pass pro, Mustipher held up well vs Reader, Brandon Stephens had JaMarr Chase clamped all game, Gus and Justice made it look like we never needed JK in the first place, Geno made a pick that looked exactly like MW and dont forget Agholor coming in for Odell when he went out too...

i cant remember the last time a ravens receiver came up big on a downfield throw like the Zay 52 yarder yesterday
lamar put it on a rope and he played big in double coverage - just not sure ive seen a ravens WR who splits that bracket the way he did, and then who comes down with the ball

zay really looks like he might be the one...
