The Tucker, the Refs and the Fish and Chips

when you have a top 5 OLine, 4 legit WRs,
that o line is not top 5 and 4 legit wrs? only zay is legit

obj bateman have only got 1 yard of separation and the league average is around 2 with zay and mark being in that 3 area

The offense has way too many playmakers and way too good of an offensive line to be lookin mediocre. I do not believe the scheme in the 2nd half, Lamar just missed some throws at the start of the 3rd and penalties killed the one drive, but it should not feel this close when you have a top 5 OLine, 4 legit WRs, a top 3 TE, and solid RBs. The running game was getting shut down and for some reason they were not leaning into the pass to force the run.
I mean I guess but if you look at the box score we threw for more yards, ran for more yards, and out scored them. I agree the play calling was on the conservative side today, but I believe it was by design. What I didn’t like was the that we didn’t score more TD,s in the red zone, but we didn’t execute very well there either.

This is a problem to me though because this has been the same thing all season. Understand it’s still new but there’s been so little effort to open this thing up.

We have a tough game ahead against a creative offensive playcaller in Ben Johnson. We need to shut down Amon Ra St. Brown and La Porta

Given the confusion and miscommunication going on now that could be a reason that they haven't opened up the playbook.

If you think you have to be a top 25 WR to be legit then you are right. However given that each team starts 2 WRs if you were to list me the top 64 WRs I would have all main Ravens WRs on that list.

Also by every gradable metric the OLine is top 5. This is another one of those where if you look around the league you realize there is not a ton of great OLine play happening right now. Right now the Lions are playing great and everyone has a "good but" attached to them.

I don’t disagree with that, but i do think it takes more time than some think. If you consider that over the past 5 years under Roman they played in a completely different offense. To be honest I’m happy that are 4-2 right now, and expect this offense grow as the season goes on.

I have more problems with the philosophy behind it - playing to not lose instead of playing to win. As we’ve seen, that brings mixed results.

And I get that. Just seems odd to me that there is practically 0 attempt to establish anything downfield.

Personnel driven maybe? We don’t have a deep threat

I think one question I would have there is do we really have a legit #2 wr. Defenses are focusing on Zay and Andrews right now and we need OBJ, Ahgular, and/or Bateman to step up. Until then we probably gonna see more of the same.

I’d completely disagree with that. Any of our top 5 should be able to stretch the field at minimum, even if it’s not a pure speed thing

Flowers has 4 catches of 20+, which is Top 10 across the league, and that's with the stumble last week, which likely would've been a TD. I think we've got people that can stretch the field. Bateman has solid speed too.

Exactly. We seem resigned to using Zay in the short game (which I certainly support) but he can clearly do more. I don’t know. Just feels safe and conservative. Not saying we need to go out there and throw bombs every drive but there’s certainly more room to try to get that game working.

I mean doesn’t Lamar have the option to audible to a different play? I can’t believe 2 play calls are that close to the same every down.
I really think it’s more of a confidence in execution issue at this point more than an ultra conservative game plan.
Thinking as they get more in sync we’ll see a more creative offense, at least I hope so or we’ll be in trouble.
