NFL Thanksgiving Thursday
Packers @ Lions: Remember when the Lions were awful and we questioned why the NFL would subject all of us to watching them on Thanksgiving every year? Well question no more as for the first time since 1962, the Lions are 8-2 and hold a two game lead in the NFC North. Detroit improved to 2-0 in the Division in their comeback win over Chicago, while the Packers were able to beat the Chargers and keep themselves in the mix for a NFC Wild Card berth. Detroit has done many things this season, their next task is to snap a six game losing streak on Thanksgiving. The Lions haven't won on Thanksgiving since 2016 when they beat the Vikings, and last time they beat the Packers on Thanksgiving was in 2013. The Lions are chasing the Eagles for the top seed in the NFC and need every win they can and hope the Eagles slip in order to bring a potential NFC Championship Game to Detroit for the very first time.
Commanders @ Cowboys: Cowboys continue to win games they are supposed to win as they went into Carolina and beat the Panthers to improve to 7-3 on the year. The Commanders are coming off a loss in which they turned the ball over six times against the New York Giants, and watched Sam Howell get sacked four times. Making their total amount of sacks given up this year at 51, second most in the league. Meanwhile, Dallas' defense had a seven sack performance against Carolina and look for them to continue racking up sacks against a bad Commanders offensive line. Not a lot right is happening for Ron Rivera and company who might very well be on the hot seat as we head into the final weeks of the season. Will new owner Josh Harris have the patience to wait out the season or will another loss prompt a move to get a start on the Head Coaching search in 2024?
49ers @ Seahawks: It's a three team race for the number one seed in the NFC as the 49ers play keep up with the Eagles and Lions for Head of the Table in the NFC. San Fran has now won back to back games and look to put a stamp on the NFC West when they travel to Seattle to play the Seahawks. Despite the hand injury, Geno Smith will start against the 49ers, while RB Kenneth Walker is doubtful to play. The Seahawks are trying to stay in wild card contention but how will Geno's injury play a role as the season begins to wind down and wins and losses matter even more.
