Not a fan of Kliff.

Brian is interesting and so is Joe Brady

a lot of the hotter head coaching candidate type names have been picked up over the last couple of seasons

Mike Vrabel
Jim Harbaugh
Pete Carroll
Dan Quinn
Mike Macdonald
Ben Johnson
Aaron Glenn

a mix of program builders and schematic "geniuses"

not sure who's around right now that fits that bill... maybe Jesse Minter and i guess we'll see how josh grizzard does

Brian Flores fits that bill for me

What's really a shame is that when John's warts are most visible is when candidates are down it seems. He survives by being a good "manager," and we get stuck with retreads or up and comers in the coordinator roles. I think Mike McDonald was the exception to that general trend and if he were here now I think we'd have the new HC in the wings.

Flores would be a very interesting choice. But I'm thinking they'd go with an OFF guy. The one we really missed that would have been great for Lamar is Sean Peyton.

sean peyton would have been desperate to work with lamar
but idk that he would have been the offensive saviour

i'd have been looking at a shanahan/mcvay tree young guy to pair with Lamar...

there's a couple of those guys around in this year's potential coaching cycle: klint kubiak and josh grizzard... whether those guys are HC material or offensive savants the way some of those other guys have been remains to be seen

At this point, gimme an offensive-minded coach. While Flores would be nice, I don't have much confidence in him to ensure our offense will continue as scheduled if our franchise QB has to miss a game.

I'm sorry, @rossihunter2 , that tweet you shared about our coaching staff not being prepared to deal with Rush as a starter left a bad taste in my mouth. That shit's inexcusable.

Rap Sheet really said to watch out for Arthur Smith & Matt Nagy for names as potential Head Coaches for the Titans. That doesn't give me any hope that there will be any strong candidates if the first two names mentioned are retreads.

Not saying these guys will have the same fortune, but usually failed head coaches do better in their second opportunity if they're lucky enough to get one

I know, but it really does feel we missed the boat in terms of there not being a good Head Coach available at a time we might need a new one.

On paper. There are plenty of really good head coaches that were never the big name when they got their jobs.

Still think we make the playoffs if Lamar returns healed. That Head Coach is not a lifetime appointment and that failure to reach the playoffs with our team would indicate a fresh appointment is needed. Fresh views on offense with an eye directed to both trenches.

I would hold my breath on Harbaugh getting fired. Usually when a HC is on the verge of being fired, you would hear mumblings or rumors to that extant. No one who is credible in the media has even reported anything that could signal him getting fired. I think it would take another year of a season like this for him to get fired honestly. 2018 was as close as we got, and back then we heard of rumors of Harbaugh getting fired, if I'm not mistaken Rapaport reported that the team was planning on parting ways with him rather then firing him. Prior to that season in the 2017 offseason, Biscotti even admitted he considered firing Harbaugh. At this point, I don't see that happening unless we go on a massive losing streak and finish with like 2 or 3 wins. I'm not saying I don't think we should consider bringing a new fresh face, I do favor going in that direction but I wouldn't bet on him getting fired this year.

IF Lamar plays the rest of the year (effectively missing two games), and we don't make the playoffs, I think Steve has no choice. It'll be one of the biggest team failures in franchise history. Especially true if we finish below .500. If we somehow make a surge, finish 9-8 or 10-7, and the team shows life at end of the year, and we miss playoffs, then yeah, maybe he stays.
