2025 NFL Draft General Discussion

I know I really shouldn’t be like this, because safety is low key one of the most pressing needs, but I hate the idea of a safety in the first round

Such a strong trenches draft and I just feel so strongly that we’d find a game changer there

Honestly it being a strong trenches draft means we can get a DL or Edge in the 2nd. Meanwhile there's only like three safeties I'd consider taking.

I dnt think we are going S in first rnd. If starks not there, we def shouldnt be going S. Unless we plan on trading or getting rid of marcus, i dnt see is going S. Didnt we hire a new S coach?

Marcus will be a free agent. They redid his contract and he will not be returning.

So yes, S is a need.

combine broadcast has shown the ravens booth a few times

looks like it's only EDC, Ozzie and Nick Matteo up in there every time they show them

Right now I feel like Malaki starks, Tyler booker, or Donovan ezeiruaku is our first round pick.

Feels like one of those 3 guys will be the one that falls past where the ravens expected and they feel they got a steal.

Wouldn’t be thrilled with starks if it happens.

Tyler Booker please football gods. Hopefully his combine numbers cause him to fall to us.

i cant see starks being the guy - feels like more of a 2nd rounder type guy on tape and he doesnt have the athletic profile that we would take a bet on

But I fall more and more in love with Emmanwori every day

Feels like this draft doesn't have as many obvious top guys as usual. They're probably be a couple of guys we thought we had no shot at available, and a few we thought would be there that are already off the board.

Yeah. 2 weeks ago Pearce and green had no shot at being there and now it’s a near certainty, and we’re likely to pass.

Whack. Can they just say they like God or something?

it's a really weak top of the class vs previous years

there's fewer blue-chip prospects
there's fewer first round grade prospects

but by the end of day 2 it probably evens out - i dont think that i can disagree with people who think the 16th and 60th player in the draft are that different in terms of grades

havent got through enough prospects yet to take a definitive view on day 3 yet

@rossihunter2 since I have a nagging feeling that Malaki starks ends up being our first round pick I’ve been watching him a bit, and I’ve noticed you having mostly negative takes on this, wanted to see your thoughts on him.

I see a safety who can also line up in close man like a corner. Elite change of direction and flexibility in the hips and ankles. Elite ball skills. Looks to be a very solid processor when the play is in front of him. Excellent playing off-man and catching the route at the top of the stem, patient and confident and positions himself well out of the break, and carries deep routes very well, while getting his head around to play the ball on all kinds of routes. Sorts out crossers well, doesn’t get caught up in traffic, and doesn’t take the eye candy.

Weakness is he looks extremely suspect in run support and box play in general. He doesn’t appear to be reading or anticipating against the run/screen, and rather reacting and almost looks panicked when closing, a bit Marcus peters like in that regard. Angles and tackling form are pretty shaky, getting off of blocks appears foreign to him.

i dont think he's a bad prospect - just don't think he's a first rounder
i see great change of direction and hip flexion

i dont know that i love him as a man coverage defender even with the CoD and hip flip skills

i really like him as a space defender though even though he can get a bit greedy with his eyes - would be perfect if you let him be a deep half/single high safety - a true free safety type
but my concern is that he will get picked on in man coverage

and not a strong run defender

i see him as similar to jessie bates if he hits

i dont disagree with most of what you're saying - just think his value starts at the end of R1/Top of R2 - remains to be seen if he's in my top 27 players when it's all said and done

just not sure i'd be a fan of that pick vs what else would be available
