Just curious..... Now that it's cut down time, how many players do you figure other teams will scavenge from your practice squad? I know your front office does an excellent job bringing in talent. It would not at all surprise me to see as many as 9 players claimed by other teams after the Jets make their initial cuts.
Maybe 1 or 2 at most. I think we (encompassing fans of every single team out there) tend to think our players are better because we see them a lot over the course of the last month. Reality is that most of these guys are afterthoughts and will be out of the league in a year or two.

I’d ra

I’d rather keep an additional OL over that 3rd RB as of now, especially someone like Kelly. Just don’t see any being worth a 53 man spot and every single one should be fine on the PS.

You’ve also got 54 here.
You right. I might cut Pepe then. Idk Kelly just seems like the nonsense vet RB3 we've been keeping the last few years. And that's semi out of necessity with Ali being hurt and awful and Owen getting hurt.

I get it, but Kelly has also only scrounged up 13 games over his 5 year NFL career and has hardly played STs. He just doesn't seem that safe of a choice to me either. Reality is that we're comparing shit to shit either way. I'm kind of at the point where I'd guess if there's an RB3 on our 53, that guy is not currently in the organization.

With Jeff's tweet about RB3, we probably will only keep 2 and replace one of the defensive guys after we sign a new RB3?

That or maybe you keep Ali temporarily and then throw him on IR and keep open the possibility of him returning if they still think there’s something there.

Guessing we'll see a handful or two of cuts today ahead of tomorrow's deadline... usually today is a combo of the UDFAs and veterans that they do not plan to retain.

yeah so the guys they intend to have on the PS dont lose a day of practice

Any idea when Keaton will be back? November?

I just watched some Ben Cleveland preseason film and hes looked good. From what I’ve seen faalele hasn’t looked better.

And I have not been a Ben Cleveland fan, but it seems like he plays decently well when he’s in game, he has some really nice reps and then the occasional lapse in effort or technique, but I’m starting to wonder why he’s not the front runner at RG, it makes zero sense to me.

Maybe he will be, either way he’ll be playing

Based on what? Highly doubtful it’s a Ben powers situation considering he’s playing other positions and fairly late in the games.
I just assume at some point in the season due to injury or shaking up the line if it’s not geling he’ll be playing, but hopefully not either of those reasons but then for depth and different heavy overload packages he could be on the field. Idk. It’s not my forte to be an expert here

Not asking you to be an expert lol just tryna pick your brain on it.

At this point I’d like to see him at RG because I just think he’s a better RG than faalele, and I still think faalele is an OT. After what I’ve seen this preseason which hasn’t been much honestly, I feel pretty strongly that Cleveland has looked better, and it’s odd to me that faalele seems to be getting the nod

Think we've just seen far too many guys that looked good in Q4 of preseason games that fade out of the league entirely just as quickly.

Think Cooper has a much better shot of sticking on the PS for what it's worth. Bullock seems like a viable candidate as well, but a lot more bodies there for PS spots.

We for sure have, I agree. Realistically, this could be the last week in human history when I'm able to talk up either of them. Believe me, I'm not pre-filling my Pro-Bowl ballots at the end of August. That said, it would be different if this was my introduction. Since it's not, I'm able to conjoin the assessments. In essence, it's me backing myself as much as them. Each was draftable in my view, they've performed to those expectations against deep reserves and other roster hopefuls, so I can comfortably set my sights to hoping for them to make the 53 akin to other draft picks. Hoping being the operative term. And I will take the practice squad if that keeps them with the team for the future.
