Did anyone see what Kathy Griffin did? I'm no sympathizer of Trump, but what she did was unacceptable.
Yeah, at least CNN wasted no time in canning her sorry ass. But it isn't any worse than what people were doing when Obama got elected:

Saw this today.

Spot on.

I think most here will agree. Or at least should.

Yup yup yup. My fellow liberals are alienating a lot of moderates, and even other liberals, with the constant namecalling. Then they wonder why people don't vote Democrat anymore. I try telling them to focus on the economic message (but wait, does the party have one yet...?) and policy (other than hating El Trumpo) but all I ever hear is that Republicans are xenophones who hate gay folks and that I'm just normalizing it.

They don't realize that people left the Democratic party when the party shifted away from its economic message to focus entirely on social justice. Everything has to be viewed through the lens of social justice now. Don't get me wrong -- I am a supporter of 'social justice' to an extent -- but I'm a firm believer that "it's the economy, stupid." Wild idea: achieve 'social justice' through economic means, not through litigation, legislation, and name calling. Empower through policy, not rhetoric.

I usually avoid politics but this board is still slow so heres my hot take, the reality is both sides bring out the worst in each other, if it's not confirmation bias it's the backfire effect where the stubborn and glaring lack of humanity and logic is intensified. Recently I came across a piece where the writer says that labels are constructs for control, to keep us at war with ourselves etc but I think I'm too cynical to wear a tinfoil hat. Maybe it's plausible but I'm inclined to believe we just have a lot of assholes who don't want to hear what they don't want to hear.

I think the "labels make us fight" excuse was made up by some suburban mom who didn't like political talk at the dinner table.

I do think we have a lot of assholes who don't want to hear what they don't want to hear. Conservatives don't want to hear that tax cuts for the rich don't actually grow the economy, and liberals don't want to hear that the welfare programs aren't actually helping people move up the ladder, but conservatives don't want to hear that schools need more money to teach relevant skills, and liberals don't want to hear that going to the trades is okay, and on and on.

Idk how we got this way. But we are.

What did snoop do? I haven't been following

He did a video of shooting Trump dressed as a white faced clown except he did the old flag that said BANG that came out of the gun. All I can say Hollywood needs to keep their nose out of politics living behind their walls and their armed bodyguards. They have their platforms and really got no clue.

Agreen, same with athletes. They think because they are heard millions they should speak out on things. Like lebron James recent racist issue and what he compared it... Not even close to the same thing. Off. Topic... Kind of.

considering the platform some of these athletes are able to create for themselves? I do not see an issue with an athlete speaking on some of the things in this country that NEED to be talked about.

if not the athlete than who? the media?

We praised in the past Ali and Roberto Clemente for doing the very things some of these guys today try to do. They are met with the "you make millions, shut up and play" as if money changes anything. All the money in the world doesn't stop people from throwing bananas at you, calling you racial slurs, or vandalizing your home.

I Honestly don't have an issue with athletes speaking out, but at least be informed and know what your talking about. It's so media driven on who gets what coverage speaking out about things. Look at Enes Kanter, that guy is putting his life on the line and barely anyone has been talking about him while he's in another country with a warrant for his arrest while Kaep takes a knee we talk about him for a year..

That is an easy one, people do not care what you stand for as long as you keep quiet. For example, Kap kneeled and people were in an uproar and at no point did they address anything he actually said. All they wanted was for him to shut up about it and stand like everyone else bc he makes money.

Kanter did nothing to go against anything American, that's why people don't care even though he is really standing up for his cause. It's pathetic and a joke that as smart as most of us are in this country that we can't address any of the issues without playing the oppression olympics as to who has it harder than the other only to discredit said injustice.

What kaep was nlkneeling for was and is continuously being addressed. Racial oppression won't stop over night (if ever) but its not like things weren't being attended to already that he was "protesting" about. I've never in my life met someone who is for racism, I'm Not saying it doesn't exist but kaep didn't bring anything new to light yet he is praised for speaking out on obvious things happening.

Oh, there are MANY people out there who are blatantly for racism.

I would be hesitant to say "many" ( the word is subjective anyway )
I don't think it is even remotely close to 50% of the population are blatantly FOR racism. I don't even think I would believe 25% of the U.S. population is *blaintiantly FOR racism*

In this day and age the squeaky wheel gets to oil and the quiet one doesn't even exist. But there IS a squeaky wheel for sure. Some squeak louder than others for sure, some squeak and don't even realize they are squeaking of course but we are not talking about that.

I found this on FB today and I pretty much love it.

I cant touch the Kanter deal since I have no idea what its all about but you're saying nobody addressed what Kaep said. I have to ask do you want socialism/communism to be the governing body of the U.S.? Check out Venezuela's situation and see how redistributation of wealth actually works and then how it fails. Europe is going down the same path. Believe me there was a lot of talk about Kaep's praisal of Castro and his rhetoric about police brutality and the oppression of black Americans but he didn't talk about how the crimerate is high in these areas and the police have to deal with extremely dangerous situations. It was a onesided discussion. Maybe he should discuss the politicians that have been running these cities for the last 50 yrs. Discuss the extreme dependency that people have to depend on thru social programs which creates poverty which again leads back to crime. Also noboby and I mean NOBODY at all discusses the #1 problem which is black on black crime cuz it doesn't fit the narrative.
