Just to play devil's advocate, he also said something to the effect of "and because you're famous they let you do it". Though the use of the passive voice implies it's more of a Weinstein kinda thing where he's in a position of power and he knows what he can get away with. Which is still creepy as hell.
The whole thing dovetails into the other politicians on both sides of the aisle exploiting their power dynamics (and there really needs to be a house cleaning over the next few years - that responsibility falls to the voters in every electorate) and the same thing being pretty rife in the entertainment industry (it doesn't matter which side of the political spectrum is worse on that regard - it's all caused by said dynamic where creeps in power are used to getting what they want and people in lower positions on the chain being conditioned to the idea that they have to deal with it). And even though those two particular industries are petri dishes for that kind of behaviour (and I know the top-end private schools in the UK have been under fire for similar reasons), the "me too" movement shows that it's pretty commonplace everywhere. As men, just shut up and listen to the experiences of the women in your lives (those who choose to share them - a great many more choose not to) and be aware that it's kind of a man's world and that a lot of women end up feeling violated nearly every day - and that's it's tough enough to call someone out on their scumbaggery without the knee-jerk response that they need to get over it or that it's being done for attention or money or whatever. Just be aware of other people's space and don't be a bad human. You wouldn't think it was a difficult concept but here we are. Anyway, rant over.
