Sanctuary cities can all rot and go to hell. You got a city that released an illegal immigrant that had committed 7 felonies and had already been deported 5 times. Commits another felony. ICE asks for a retainer on him. He gets released. Murders a young woman and gets away scot free. Not even a manslaughter conviction????? And then one of the lawyers proclaims it a victory for illegal immigrants. Fuck off!!
Something is terribly wrong with a legal system that can allow this shit to happen.
How is that even possible?

Yeah and it was even a jury trial too. I just cant believe it.

The dude said he found the gun and at first said he was trying to shoot a sea lion and then changed his story and said he dropped the gun and it fired itself. The whole thing disgusts me and I really feel for the father cuz she died right in his arms.

And let me guess - if father did something to him, he'd still be in prison?

All I can tell you is manslaughter should have been the minimal conviction either way. Somebody died and it was caused by somebody and in this case it was by somebody who shouldn't have been there.

This tax bill will no doubt lower my taxes. That being said, what it is going to do to the debt (raise it by 1 trillion) isn’t worth it in my eyes. This is not good for America as a whole, but of course I saw this coming from a mile away over a year ago.

Btw, I’m fiscally conservative.

It is never the right balance.
You can't have tax cuts without the spending cuts.
In this day and age spending cuts are like pushing a wet noodle.
Government loves to spend other peoples money.

Being fiscally conservative means spending less money so there is your answer. Why do you think the Dems are so up in arms?? They want to spend and spend and spend and their plan would have been to raise taxes. Listen did you hear any of them bitch while Obama more than doubled our debt from 9 tril to 20 tril lol. This 1.4 tril deficit with no spending cuts would still take 10 yrs to happen.

The benefits far outweigh the negatives!!!

What bothers me is that last minute changes are made to the bill not allowing Senators to read the final bill they are voting on. This should NEVER be allowed. I hate to think what lobbyists may have slipped into the final bill. This process stinks.

That's not gonna happen. Why do you think that?

Yeah, I have to say the whole thing strikes me as a massive lost opportunity. I think nearly everyone will agree that a major reform was needed, even if only to streamline the whole thing (there are few other areas in the world that match the complexity of the US tax system, but France's labour code is another one in dire need of simplifying even if only to cut it down from 3000 pages to 2000). But it was also a chance to look at options like taxing AI (personally I wouldn't be opposed to the concept of taxing Amazon's drones as if they were workers, for example) and big data, as well as revamping the corporate tax model to better suit the 21st century rather than continuing the race to the bottom where everyone tries to become Singapore or Luxembourg in a perverse prisoner's dilemma of global public finance.

It's good that there are moves being made towards some of those, but on the whole it looks like it all disproportionately affects the donor classes. Tax and spend is obviously a two-sided coin and both can do huge amounts to stimulate an economy and boost growth if done smartly. Kansas is a sad case of what can go wrong if legislators decide to start slashing taxes for the hell of it in the hopes that things work themselves out.

And yet after all this an independent assessment said this tax plan would add more than $1 trillion to the deficit so if you’re worried the dems are gonna ruin the deficit I’d look a little closer to home

You answered this post??? With that?? Did you have a problem with the defecit spiraling with Obama? Obama spent more than all other presidents combined. Combined!!! Look it up. No I don't need to look closer at home lol. I also said the 1.4 tril would take 10 yrs to amass. And no I don't believe in "independent" assessments.

Are you referring to the lobbyists?

Yes I'm referring to the lobbyists. Sure they're always gonna try to get something in the bill but the House and Senate have been shown to the public whats in the bill. This aint no Nancy Pelosi stuff. What they're doing now is finalizing the small diffrences between the 2 bills and yes it will be available to the public.

Where did you hear this anyways cuz I cant find nothing on it?

Sure he was going to vote for it anyways right lmao. He knows whats in that bill.

Does he? A nearly 500 page document with handwritten amendments on virtually every page... you’re telling me you could have read, digested and understood that document in 2 hours? Let alone the actual minutiae? The way this bill was debated and passed was insidious and disgustingly undemocratic if I’m brutally honest...

And how was Obama supposed to amend that deficit when every fiscal move including tax reform that he tried to make was philibustered by selfish republicans in the senate who refused to work with him? At least Obama didn’t make legislative changes that actively increased the deficit - he just had his hands tied behind his back...
