The Well-Mannered Politics Thread

Well, let me put it this way.

Let's say African Americans began to regularly loot and riot again under the premise of BLM and white supremecists cropped up to go out and actively stop them under the guise that blacks do not deserve equal rights. Trump, I think, would turn a blind eye to this message of blacks not deserving equal rights and say that the white supremecist are doing the right thing to oppose them, even if it got violent.

Really?

Of course. You're a BLM supporter. You just have a blind hatred against him and want to believe that.
And this is where the discussion goes south because of something like this. This is why I don't discuss politics with you.

You don't like the opinion so you turn it personal and that's not cool. If you can't keep yourself cool, perhaps don't enter this thread.

It's insane how the left tries to demonize "the 1%" as if they're all millionaires and billionaires, when in reality it's most successful business owners who risked everything to start their own company
Or, in the case of Trump, inherited a business from someone else... That doesn't hurt.

In America, you're far more likely to fall out of your income bracket then to move up which suggests that the people at the top are largely staying at the top because they inherited large summs of money or were given massive loans to even be in this position, much like Trump. If his family wasn't rich beforehand, does he get the opportunity to start a business? Probably not.

There are very few examples of someone starting at the bottom, risking it all, and moving up.

yes... but there's a difference between being sworn at/abused because someone doesnt like you and being sworn at/abused with specific words designed to belittle you because of your background/nationality/ethnicity

but its not just about the mean words its about the intention to cause harassment/harm with them or being threatening/causing distress
I think people who quote the first amendment don't realize that it doesn't actually guarantee you free speech with no boundaries. There are limits to its protection.

I don't think Trump is racist. Not a fan of his in the slightest but being racist? I think he poorly words a lot of things(because he's kind of a loose cannon) but racist is not something. I.e when he handled the Charloettesville it was poor since he didn't specifically say "white supremacist" but he still said both sides... Which he honestly had the right to condemn Antifa for their actions. They weren't as responsible for the actions, but their response to the white supremacists was not okay. Ie. One should not respond to a mugging by tracking down the mugger and killing their entire family. Defending yourself is okay, but there is a line. Antifa crossed it and should be held accountable. But he still handled the whole situation poorly imo by not calling white supremacists by name(although in a later statement he did go to condemn white supremacists...).

Asshole? I'll give you that. He keeps shooting himself in the foot every time he opens up twitter and types. Full on racist? I don't think so.. I think he hates illegal immigration so much that it blinds him and since he cannot say anything rational on twitter, he says stupid things. But I don't think he thinks discriminates against people for the color of their skin. Again, he's a pompous ass. I wish the republicans had anyone else(except for Cruz... Not gonna lie, I'd take Trump over Cruz every day of the week). But racist? No.

I'd say he's a misogynist.. I'll agree there given the things he's said about women. But full on racist I can't call him.

I mean, there's the issue of many, many lawsuits involving minorities who worked for him and the fact that when he was asked at a press conference on the 12th (the day after Charlottesville) to condemn white supremecists, he fell silent and left. I don't remember which site it was, but one of those white supremecist sites came out and praised him heavily for not condemning their group like he could have when directly asked to. They took it as a great sign of support for their cause.

How else could they take it but support?
If you're silent over their agenda, you are supporting them. If you are a president and stay silent, you are definitely a racist.

I think you all are taking this too lightly when @rossihunter2 references hate speech.

If someone says, "Black people are lazy." Yeah, pretty racist and really ignorant, but not hate speech and that's not what he's referring to.

What he's referring to is, "If you are black, I will kill you. If you are black and you try to oppose me, I will not only kill you, but your family. No black person should have any rights or live in this great country of America which was founded by whites over blacks as slaves. We will get back to the time when blacks were in their right place as inferior beings to whites, even if it means we stand over their dead bodies."

You'd be okay with someone saying the second part?

Trump later went on to condemn those men. I agree that it was stupid that he did not do it in that moment(he handled the situation very poorly), but he went on to condemn both actions.

Again, he's a pompous asshole. I'd rather shoot myself in the head with an RPG than vote for him. I have several reasons for disliking him. But I don't think he's a full blown racist. But as a person of color I don't think of him as someone who is going to infringe upon my rights anytime soon.

This shitshow is what happens when people don't vote.

Oh well though. Back to eating popcorn as Trump fucks the country in the ass

I mean, of course he cindemned them... can you imagine the backlash against the Republican party had he not? They'd get blown out of the water in the next election.

It shouldn't take 48 hours from someone who has no issue tweeting his opinions immediately after news happens.

He was clearly pressured into condemning them.

Did you read all my posts? Or are you picking a fight with me again ?

I agreed that there is a difference between " I don't like blacks" and " I want to kill all blacks" Clearly different.
What about everything in between? Where do you draw the line?
Who do you want to make those decisions where the line is drawn ? Some snowflake with an arts degree ? or a Nazi skinhead?

The problem, as with everthing is not in the black and white ( if you will pardon the analogy ) but in the huge vast gray in between.
I don't think very many people are opposed to me calling you a muffin head. But I am sure there are those ( myself included ) would would be opposed to me calling you.....
Well you can finish that thought on your own.
