She was a plant. It was just for the cameras. It is all an act.

Is this the act of a bigot racist?

Oh well though. Back to eating popcorn as Trump fucks the country in the ass
This sums up the thread petty much perfectly. For all the talk of whether Trump's a racist or a great guy or just a partial racist (which is about an important a discussion as "who was the best president ever?") net neutrality seems to be on the way out and Trump's latest budget has an 11% cut in R&D funding for AI (imagine a US president cutting funding to NASA during the Cold War), which are both huge issues for the 21st century and no-one's talking about that. And the shitshow of a tax bill has had minimal discussion (and even less edifying discussion), which is a shame since the GOP's had a gift-wrapped opportunity to make much-needed tax reform that could leave lasting benefits for the US and the rest of the world - which can include cutting taxes for the rich as long as it's done smartly.

Any defense of the GOP tax plan yet? Giving tax breaks for jet owners but not teachers who buy school supplies? Nobody hates it?

Congrats again guys for defending the party of the aristocrats and opposing the party of real working Americans.

By the way, if we had a flat tax, both income inequality AND the national debt would be immensely worse off. Flat tax sounds great in theory but in practice it's a fucking trainwreck. That's the thing about Libertarianism. Sounds nice as an ideology but it has never ever worked as a framework for a functioning society.

I don't think Trump is racist. Not a fan of his in the slightest but being racist? I think he poorly words a lot of things(because he's kind of a loose cannon) but racist is not something. I.e when he handled the Charloettesville it was poor since he didn't specifically say "white supremacist" but he still said both sides... Which he honestly had the right to condemn Antifa for their actions. They weren't as responsible for the actions, but their response to the white supremacists was not okay. Ie. One should not respond to a mugging by tracking down the mugger and killing their entire family. Defending yourself is okay, but there is a line. Antifa crossed it and should be held accountable. But he still handled the whole situation poorly imo by not calling white supremacists by name(although in a later statement he did go to condemn white supremacists...).

Asshole? I'll give you that. He keeps shooting himself in the foot every time he opens up twitter and types. Full on racist? I don't think so.. I think he hates illegal immigration so much that it blinds him and since he cannot say anything rational on twitter, he says stupid things. But I don't think he thinks discriminates against people for the color of their skin. Again, he's a pompous ass. I wish the republicans had anyone else(except for Cruz... Not gonna lie, I'd take Trump over Cruz every day of the week). But racist? No.

I'd say he's a misogynist.. I'll agree there given the things he's said about women. But full on racist I can't call him.

i have to say that your analogy doesnt really work - the antifa response was not really equatable to the crimes perpetrated by the white supremacists so its not really like comparing mugging and murder is it? also important to remember that only 350 of the counterprotesters were antifa/anarchists - the majority were locals who wanted to curtail the trend of white supremacist marches from earlier that year and show their disdain for the movement, there were faith-based groups, civil rights organisations, local businesses, faculty and students of the university...

it is unreasonable for the president to bandy all of them with a group of open racists, one of whom murdered a counter-protester and injured numerous others and his unwillingness to single out the group that 1) perpetrated the crimes (all bar 1 instance of reported violence was perpetrated by the unite the right group and the 1 who wasnt was reacting emotionally to a tv crew at the scene of the murder) 2) started the whole problem by organising a white supremacy rally 3) who incited high emotion through racist, anti-semitic, homophobic (among other) slogans

not sure how any of that is equivalent to mostly peaceful protest

and in terms of trump's racism

  • i mean what about the way he talks about mexicans as rapists and criminals and that as a “Mexican,” U.S. District Court Judge Gonzalo Curiel, who was born and raised in the United States, could not fairly arbitrate lawsuits related to Trump University
  • For years, Trump protested, falsely, that Barack Obama was not born in the U.S. and was consequently elected illegitimately
  • The Trump administration cut funds for Department of Homeland Security programs to combat right-wing fascism and white supremacy and it slow-walked Hurricane Maria aid to Puerto Ricans who “want everything done for them,” in the president’s words - (these were us citizens but because they were puerto rican they were apparently less valuable than floridans and texans) - but he mostly just stereotypes puerto ricans in general as lazy
  • the muslim ban was interesting given that apparently muslims are wannabe terrorists
  • he makes fun of asian speech patterns
  • he insinuated that african americans were thugs
  • this one quote that disrespects african americans and jews at the same time: “Black guys counting my money! I hate it. The only kind of people I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes every day.”
  • a couple of other quotes on african americans: “Laziness is a trait in blacks.”, “I have a great relationship with the blacks. I’ve always had a great relationship with the blacks.”,
  • He blatantly and directly disrespected Gold Star parents of South Asian origin
  • he constantly referred to elizabeth warren as 'Pocahontas'
  • this is all before his initial late reaction to the charlottesville white supremacists
  • this is not to mention that trump's former apprentice producer said outright that there was an enormous amount of 'despicable' racist taped in meetings that they obviously couldnt air
maybe individually you could say these are all just 1 offs and he's misspeaking but to me they suggest a pattern (and this list is by no means anywhere close to exhaustive) of racism/xenophobia against all different minority groups

About a month after this happened, a media outlet reached out to the Trump campaign and they said she doesn't work for any company owned by him. So there's that.

Did you read all my posts? Or are you picking a fight with me again ?

I agreed that there is a difference between " I don't like blacks" and " I want to kill all blacks" Clearly different.
What about everything in between? Where do you draw the line?
Who do you want to make those decisions where the line is drawn ? Some snowflake with an arts degree ? or a Nazi skinhead?

The problem, as with everthing is not in the black and white ( if you will pardon the analogy ) but in the huge vast gray in between.
I don't think very many people are opposed to me calling you a muffin head. But I am sure there are those ( myself included ) would would be opposed to me calling you.....
Well you can finish that thought on your own.

so there's an issue with defining it and making sure its not abused but you have to admit that there must be some sort of checks and balances to make sure that people arent victimised by hate speech - no one should have to face it without a way of stopping it so there has to be some sort of official process to stop it or implicitly the government/police are supporting hate speech by not actively attempting to reduce it

oh i tried discussing it earlier (a few pages back) but a couple people here started getting defensive when i suggested that it was making the middle class and poor worse off...

I'm just gonna stop replying. I've had a lot to drink and I know how I get lol. Nothing you guys did. Drunk Lost is not a fun guy to be around.. .For anyone

This is completely out of whack, I must say. To even think that there should be a line between " I don't like blacks" and " I want to kill all blacks" is crazy wrong.
The line should be under the first part. Anything over that line, including " I don't like blacks", is sick.

Anyone who thinks that the tax bill is better for the middle class and the poor than for the rich is out of their damn mind. Goddamn GOP bends over backwards to make sure their fat cat donors get fed.

And it's repugnant that you even have to point that out. Welcome to America, where we have a passive acceptance of racism.

what's worse is that this one directly impacts trump too - it makes him and his heirs better off too and i dont see how a conflict of interest like that is legal...

Raising taxes on middle class to cut the estate tax. What the hell else should we expect from the right?
