Then they should be held accountable for a healthcare system that is evidently broken if they won’t change it to something better and more usable and more affordable...

And in terms of healthcare quality I can’t talk about other countries but the NHS and our healthcare despite now being underfunded by a conservative government is a major export for us because of its high quality and efficiency despite being hindered by a government that wants to cut funding (in the last couple of years we had healthcare providers on strike for the first time in a long time with almost universal support from the general public)

And yet we still are “world renowned” for our healthcare

Our health care system was not broken. Obama screwed it all up. Now deductables are sky high cuz of his dumbass. Premiums on Obamacare too. I'm more lucky than those since I get it thru my job. That's right thru my job!!!

Pre-Obama you would hear many stories of people in unfortunate circumstances or with life-threatening conditions who would be bankrupted by hospital bills or would die and then their families would be bankrupted by hospital bills - or people not being able to get insurance if they have a pre-existing condition - the fact that that is possible suggests to me that the system is broken

Hospitals and healthcare is a service that unpolitically for me has to serve everyone - and as an outside observer I’ve never felt more relieved not to be from the USA whenever the topic of healthcare comes up

I no longer respect him. These sheep in entertainment just do this shit to stay relevant and be liked. I thought most of them were going to move out of the country for the next four years (hopefully 8), yet they're still here..........

They know which country is the best lol.

I hate how people act like celebrities cannot have a political view. Like they aren't a citizen or something.

I would not say they "can not" but surely you must agree you live a different life when you have a net worth of 27.5 million dollars.

Doesn't mean that they aren't affected by the policies and regulations of America or potentially have family in very low income areas that are more drastically affected.

Me personally, they can have a personal opinion on politics. Everyone can have an opinion. I'm simply saying I just don't care to hear it. If that sounds condescending, it wasn't my intention, but it is what it is.

There are probably plenty of people who don't care to hear your opinion, but you still voice it, I'm sure.

It doesn’t sound condescending it just feels a little naive - you don’t have to hear them or listen to them but take Eminem (I think that’s who you mentioned first) - it would be inaccurate to say that his career has always revolved around politics - I can think of songs with social and political messages or themes - I think it’s telling that people are bothered by it now to be honest (I agree his music is a lot worse right now but I don’t think that it’s worse because of a political message)

In terms of celebrity/music/art I just think it’s a little naive to think that politics isn’t inherently part of most subject matter - the only way to avoid a political opinion tbh is to not listen to music or watch tv or go to the cinema or look at art or go to a museum - politics is intrinsic in most of those mediums

Again I don’t think it’s condescending I just think it’s futile to try and avoid politics by celebrities within and outside of their work

Absolutely. I was always aware that there are people who probably don't care for my opinion and I'm perfectly fine with it.

Fair points.

As I say it’s not down to me to tell you that you have to listen to certain people but I do think that mindset makes you susceptible to get stuck in a political bubble - I genuinely think one of the best “political” satires/comments on this sort of tribal-ness of politics came from snl - the black jeopardy sketch they did with Tom hanks

I'm sure if they celebrities were more republican you wouldn't be singing the same tune. Now if you say they affected by policies I have to laugh out loud. They're not on Obamacare, public ed, have the best attorneys and lawyers you know basically living the life. Thing is a lot of people idolize these people which could affect their vote. They don't idolize you and me lol.

Now of course celebrities should have a voice ( but its a million times more than what we got)and a lot of them mean well imo but they don't know about the farmer, the plumber, the taxi driver. Sure they've maybe talked to some and donated money to a lot of diffrent causes but even if they led the poor life growing up most have left that behind. Even a guy like LeBron James who came from a poor background was more than likely coddled all the way thru school becuz of his athleticism. Just saying.

Donald trump knows nothing of the farmer, plumber etc but talks about it all the time - that’s no different (in fact his viewpoint is less valid because he’s never lived the hard life at all)

And if people resonate with a celebrity I don’t see the problem with them influencing their fans - if they see a morally correct way to live then why shouldn’t they use their influence? If they are phony then their politics won’t survive long with countless “fans”

If politicians are allowed to campaign I don’t see why celebrities can’t either? If anything the celebrities are less likely to be biased than party members

And in terms of their views I have no problem with celebrities expressing a different viewpoint to the masses - that’s their prerogative as long as it’s not discriminatory I have no problem with celebrities pushing an agenda that I disagree with - it’s no different to opposing politicians doing the same - I may dislike them for it but I won’t begrudge them that platform because the very nature of that platform is that many people have decided they agree which validates the viewpoint - it’s why trump is taken seriously by the media - he’s a clown but a large number of people agree with some of his views therefore he can’t be ignored the same is true of any celebrity

I would actually argue that more celebrities should use their platforms to raise awareness for causes dear to their hearts.

They have a much larger voice than the average Joe and can reach millions of people with their message. All it takes is bringing awareness and getting someone to research and they've done their job.
