2018 Secondary

Should it be worrying how many players are getting INTs or can that just be attributed to it being Mallet and not Flacco?

The only ones who should be worried are the teams lined up on our schedule.

I mean yeah, mallett running the full scale of our offense right now is gonna lead to picks, he should be running a watered down game managing form of our playbook, but regardless our defense getting shittons of interceptions is no surprise to anyone. Our secondary is big, long, athletic, and physical and they force turnovers

just with an healthy jimmy smith our secondary is automatically better than last yrs. if our pass rush can have consistent pressure, humprhey can play like a probowler this season

something a lot of people forget is every year at the start of camp the defense dominates. Yes this could deal with us being amazing, but also the offense is always behind and still learning. If the defense is still killing the offense in 3 weeks, then I'll be worried/impressed

I forgot about boykin. Is he healthy now? Or still recovering from an injury?
I'd like to believe his healthy on the account that I saw him on the field in a recent video package as No.35, but that's all I have to go off of, so don't take my word for it. Personally, I don't see why Webb wouldn't be able to switch to the slot when needed given that it hasn't been ages since he's played CB and that he shifted there at times last season, though that's just me.

Until it's preseason against another defense I'm not worried. Because I would be afraid throwing against that secondary.

Came across this and remember Ozzie and co was trying to trade up to nab him. A 94 rating on PFF. He's been shutdown. To think we missed on Ramsey and lattimore. Humphrey shows promised though, but what could have been..

Sometimes you gotta give up a 3rd ozzie. Thats all dallas wanted

Sometimes you gotta give up a 2nd

taking into account who we have drafted in those rounds recently...basicaly just JAGs and bums

it's pretty annoying. We could, if we really wanted to, got Ramsey and Lattimore.

takes a lil bit more then a 2nd rounder to move up 5 spots in the middle of the 1st round.

When a Blue Chip player is on the board, someone special who’s going to be a real playmaker for our team, I am one that is all for giving up a second or third to bring him on our team. I always was one for quality over quantity, but that is just my opinion.

We could have, but if we had traded up for Ramsey, I don't think we also would've traded up for Lattimore too.

Quality over quantity til that quality player is hurt and you have zero depth

remember guys, we basically took kaufusi instead of trading up

only good thing is that ronnie stanley is looking like Da'Brickashaw ferguson and as he continues to get stronger he'll be a pro bowl LT

I hear what you are saying and that is a good point, especially with the way the Ravens have been snake bit with injuries. However, I still stand behind my way of thinking because I rather roll the dice that one season we stay healthy and field a beast team that would give us the best chance to win the Super Bowl, than field a lesser quality team that probably won’t be good enough to win a Super Bowl anyway.

With that said, IMHO the past two years I have been very happy with our first round picks. I was a big fan of both the Stanley and Humphrey picks. It has been some of the picks and trade ups we did not make in the second and third rounds that I believe were lacking. Prior to that I hated that we traded back in the first round, because IMHO that is where the quality is and you need to figure out who to grab that is going to make your team better or package some picks and go get someone you have little doubt about. I think Ozzie has taken too much of a chance in the past that some players would fall to him and they didn’t. I would not have risked it if I was in his position. IMHO, this is especially true if you are lacking in the trenches. I believe you need to get your oline and defensive line, then secondary, then pass rush tightened up first if you are lacking in those areas unless there is a top tier Julio Jones or AJ Green type player still on the board.

It takes a future first round pick

takes a lil bit more then a 2nd rounder to move up 5 spots in the middle of the 1st round.

If you're talking moving up 5 spots no way in hell am I giving up a 2nd and a future 1st. Only the 2nd. At the top of the round going for a sure bonafide stud then maybe but in the middle of the 1st............. and what if we stink up the joint like the Atl Falcons did when we got their future 1st which netted us Jamal Lewis.
