2018 Secondary

I think you start to see a lot of turnovers caused by Humphrey. His closing speed and how hard he attacks the ball I bet you see a couple interceptions and possibly a forced fumble by the end of the season. I still have no idea why Brandon Carr is starting over him.
carr is actually playing very well.

I wouldn't say he's excellent but whenever I remember we had Shareece Wright last year I feel so good about Carr.

I've said the same thing already at some point, but my only complaint with Carr is that he plays too loose on his coverage sometimes and will give up easy completions. Other than that, he's been really solid and opportunistic as well. I still feel like Humphrey can push him for that starting spot this season, but Carr is a massive improvement from Wright last season.

I don't really see a reason to start Humphrey over Carr this season. Carr has provided a stable veteran presence, is getting interceptions, and the secondary is the strong point of the team. Why try to fix what's clearly working?
Although I believe Humphrey would do very well starting over Carr, I like easing him in as well. I also don’t believe it warrants staring him over Carr, especially since Carr has played very well.

The only way I see Humph starting by the end of the season is if Carr starts to struggle at any point and/or we're out of playoff contention. He's still getting a decent amount of playtime regardless so it's not a big deal. At the same time, if Humph shows the coaches in practice and his snaps in-game that he's clearly surpassed Carr then I think he could deserve a shot at starting to see how it goes.

The management from the coaching staff of Humphrey's developpment is just on point and there's no debating it. Even if the gap between Humph and Carr is getting slimmer by the day, that's also because thanks to the presence of Carr Marlon has been put in a very favorable position to progress and get playing time without forcing it.

I'm not bashing Brandon Carr I think he is having a great year. I just also like what I see from Humphrey thus far and think he has played just as well and I would want to see more out of our rookie.

He better make a Pro Bowl or All Pro team this year.
He really should be All-Pro this year, I can understand giving it to Jalen Ramsey though because he's a flat out stud as well but Jimmy's time for recognition has arrived. I think once he performs at a high level in more prime time games, people will get a sense of how great he is.

He probably won't. Cornerbacks that go to the pro bowl usually A. Shadow elite WRs all game with no help. B. Have playmaking stats like interceptions. Although he does very well what ravens ask of him. It isn't flashy and is not what impresses for the pro bowl attention.

This is not true. Off the top of my head Josh Norman doesn’t shadow receivers and prior to last season Richard Sherman didn’t either. The interceptions part is very true. Fans vote on this and that is what they see. That being said, Jimmy has a fumble and interception for a touchdown this season and I believe another interception earlier in the year.

Yeah but Sherman has interceptions and is known as locking down half the grid. And Norman has the rep of shadowing elite WRs cuz of he did so with Beckham

Jimmy shut down Beckham last year and Antonio Brown (1 catch 13 yards) almost every time he’s on him. Almost every time he’s healthy he shuts down AJ Green and I’m talking healthy, not recovering from Lisfranc. This season (1 catch 14 yards). Crabtree (1 catch 3 yards), Landry (2 catches 8 yards).

I agreed with the 2nd part of your original post. He has two defensive touchdowns this year. The biggest problem is that Baltimore is a small market team and the fan vote counts way too much, making it a popularity contest. I’ve seen players get in who had horrible seasons and were injured for half the games.

If that’s not deserving of All Pro Honors shame on the system or atleast a pro bowl nod.
