2018 Secondary

Winston is a moron

And I left out next tohooker Trade back Robinson was my fav draft move

i mean its not like the bucs arent using their tight ends given that cameron brate has played well and got targets

during the lead up to the draft i was a pretty big fan of cam robinson as a guard coming in and would have been pretty ok with a trade back to get him and extra picks... i would have been happy with that at draft time depending on the haul we got for trading down - not sure it's a better move than marlon at 16 but i could have lived with that move

Dude, cam is close to a can't miss OLine player as there ever was!! If he struggled at left tackle he would excel at RT and be a destroyer at guard. Big powerful underrated balance and explodes into blocks like an undersized zone guard. With long fast arms that he uses with his burst off the snap. A more athletic Osemele. Barnett is a good player. But I skways said he beat Robinson with advanced arsenal of moves that will not work in the NFL once Robinson is ready. And as good as Barnett is Cam will totally destroy him when he locks horns in the NFL. I would put money on it. Marlon would have to become the best cornerback in the league maybe top3 b4 taking him over Cam. And if he played guard it wouldn't even be fair to interior defensive lineman!! Cam Robinson is a slightly more athletic and stronger Flozell Adams. My favorite player in the draft next to Malik Hooker.

i mean i was maybe the guy on the old boards with cam robinson the highest on my big board (i guess maybe except you) but i even think you're being hyperbolic about cam - he had a poor kickstep coming out and wasnt flexible enough defending his edge but i projected him at guard - that said he's done pretty well for the jags so far - but i also had humphrey in the same position as a player on my board (they were maybe 1 or 2 spots apart from each other)

No dude, the scouts are wrong. His lockstep was inconsistent and it was and is fixable. It wasn't that he wasn't flexible. I think it was lsu he flashed his quick flexible kick step. I was 90% sure it was fixable and it was. Any scout with a shred of common sense could look at his natural knee bend, backpedal and burst off the snap with knee bend and see he was flexible enough to kickstep if coached. It was an abomination he and carl Lawson were not projected top 15 picks. Utterly retarded Harris went b4 Lawson. He shoulda went b4 our own Tim Williams but it's not totally inexcusable. I could see how somebody could value Tim more. Scouts are inept.

People on this board could put together a better draft than ravens and almost any if not allNFL draft teams. While I don't always agree, peeps here are competent and passionate about their hobby. Most scouts are there cuz who he knew. While the good devoted ones are held back and have their ideas stolen. But most don't have passion. Mike Mayock once did have true passion and could be a great gm. As did Kiper. But truth be told most scouts use their position to better their social status and play NFL Hollywood. Mayock and Kiper care more about their GFs that are 20+ years their junior than pride in their scouting. Only one that shows some devotion and pride is Jeremiah. While some like Baldinger are total morons. Most NFL scouts are more worried about using their job to boost their social status. Than pride in being correct in their reports. The Jared Allen scouting reports are an example that these things are not written by devoted competent people. The Richard Sherman somebody else that one devoted scout actually saw a first round skill set. Tom Brady's scouting reports were downright lazy!! Tony Romo was clearly NFL caliber and showed better skills than Boller. What was the deal there. Allen Hurns' scouting reports were lazy. My nephew was 11 at the time and could see he was a superior talent than anybody covering him. Do a little digging about scouts. You will see what their real goals are lol. There is no friggin way Mayock is passionate like he was yet turn down an opportunity to build an NFL franchise from ground up.

i mean he has seen real assignments and he's looked great at what he's been asked to do - i dont know what you guys think is going on in NOLA - it's not like lattimore is being left on an island every snap - he's getting safety help too all the time
im not talking down on hump im just not impressed yet! Lattimore sees way more action than hump, but what i see in lattimore, hump isnt there yet.

Ehh yeah somewhat. However scouts picked his play style apart as well. Many players come off injury and don't fall to round4 lol

it was the multiple and consistent injuries i think and their nature more than anything - but yeah for me i was there thinking like how did myles jack and jaylon smith go in round 2 and jonathan allen (with possible arthritis) go in round 1 and sidney jones go in round 2 but lawson fall to round 4...

i dont think anyone's arguing that lattimore hasnt been brilliant and better than humphrey so far - what im arguing is that humphrey has already shown enough that we can say at this point that he's playing well and was well worth the pick given what he's shown and definitely relative to the other corners drafted afterwards

lol you see it to!! Allen is gonna get blasted by NFL guards without all that superior talent around him. Could you imagine what Nelson would do to him in the NFL?? lol. I don't know what Decosta's problem is?? I mean Correa isn't practice squad caliber. I know Flex and some dudes here reserved their suspicions about Correa but tried their best to be optimistic!! lol And to take him over a really good player in our own back yard. And to ignore players like Jaylon and Jack and Spence for him. Who could possibly see spence and Correa play and draft Correa. I get it that fans here were being fans and trying to like Correa. But Decosta who held the cards and picked him?? WTF!!

And what was Diggs doing available in round5?? As well as Grady?? Decosta should be whipped letting a backyard talent go like that. And with the success of Atkins Donald and Casey. Grady being available in round 5 was inexcusable. Would anybody on this board have not picked Diggs in round 4 or 5?? It is actually gotten comical. I'll go in detail about size strength misconceptions eventually. But any scout that thought Atkins and Grady were not stout enough should be fired!! Fast example. I don't know how many here watch mama?? I do a little although I think it's crazy being paid to fight and hurt somebody. Anyways there was this misconception that Bisping was bigger and stronger than GSP. Bisping didn't have much chance of winning that. I'll eventually go in detail about how easy it is to destroy that kind of misconception and what gives it away.

Myles Jack was to me at the time, the best player in the draft. He was certainly a favorite.

I assumed the FO had inside information regarding his knee and had taken him out of their thought process....at the time.
Upon further consideration, I have to ask how our brass could feel good about passing on him for Correa. Or for passing on Spence for that matter.
How do you meet with those guys, study them for a year and pass when a rank amateur watching YouTube can see their ability leap off the screen?

The entire board instantly disliked the pick, though we tried to reckon and rationalize after the fact.
Either the front office collectively has lost it or they are afraid of making mistakes on players with questionable off field or health.

What happened to BPA? That pick was borne out of a fear of failure. I have to believe that. The alternative is a fire-able incompetence.

and yet they also pick so many dynamic playmakers who the cognoscenti miss on in the middle rounds

i had multiple mocks where i drafted them both - what's crazy is it turns out it wasnt wishful thinking it was totally feasible
Tell me about it. We could have landed them both in the 3rd and I believe if he was available in the 4th we would have taken him and I would have been stoked.

like in hindsight i like bowser but i kinda wish we went oline or wr in the 2nd round or even rb and then went lawson and williams in the 3rd round

Yeah, JuJu or Cooper Krupp in the 2nd would have been nice. I still like Bowser a lot and feel he will be an impact player for us for a long time, but if we drafted juju and then went twill and Lawson in the 3rd. Wow.

Anyway that’s easy for us to say in hindsight. Anyone of us arm chair Gms can make picks once in a while, but doing the work like a real gm and scouting department is much different.

i think so many people forget that they dont compartmentalise (mostly) the offseason - the ravens sort of do because eric decosta runs the draft but the number of contracts and players in free agency and at the bottom end of the 53 and 90 man roster that none of us really can manage

maybe we could run a draft and a draft board once in a while but i doubt any of us could do all the other parts of the job

its why i find eric decosta so interesting to listen to come draft time because that's his big thing - his role around draft time is the closest us arm chair gms get to a role in the nfl...
