Lamar Jackson, the Miscommunications, and the Refs

We're actually ridiculous for trotting out the worst run blocking OL we've seen in the LJ era the year we bring in Henry. Only to additionally abandon him early in thr game and telegraph our plays.

I mean wtf guys. Idk why we pretend like this isn't heinous. It's SELF inflicted.

I’m not worried about the usage… yet
Think a lot of those issues were mostly to do with game script

Early in the year we’re going to have to try stuff out I think to work out what this team is gonna be good at

OL obviously the biggest flaw right now - guys should get better with time
I don't disagree entirely. Definitely not waiving the white flag at this point, but there was definite reason to start sounding the alarm. Understand that how the game goes affects the flow, but just felt very predictable for a good portion of the game. Good news is that it's entirely correctable.

That's because we have extremely weak minded coaches and probably, thusly, players
Offensively, Lamar, Hill, and Likely were dawgs last night! Dawgs!

Ain’t no pretending from me

Gonna be a long year if this offensive line doesn’t improve and Monken doesn’t get his head out of his head. Silver lining is Harbaugh could be gone if those two things don’t happen. I’m so fucking done with him

I just watched the replay and without reading what you guys have already written, some opinions.

* The new kickoff rules look to be a complete bust. Both teams realized it was better to do touchbacks than allowing returns. So all this is going to do is still be a dud play, but give the offense an even shorter field than last year. Booo!
* If this offense is going to be built on swing passes, count me out. The most boring play in football
* Whoever let Harrison cover Rice on the yet-another-slant must be deserving of coach of the year
* Where was Hamilton? I expected the usual dominance, but very little to see there
* Obvious: Jackson and Likely really killed it out there
* Whos momma did Cleveland sleep with to not get to start on *this* o-line?

On a personal note, I think I'm tired of the NFL. I was really bored even though the game was close. I've already paid for gamepass so I'll watch this year, but if I don't find something interesting in the game again, I'll have to find another way to waste my spare time.

Let me focus on the good.

Thought Vorhees did well. I have no issues with our wrs. Except maybe depth. Will be interesting to see walker adds. Will hold out a couple games before speaking on Andrews. The OL will be tested again against the Raiders.

Simpson looked good. Thought Nate played well in his snaps. The DL played well to me and I think we might have a good rush. I don't remember anything crazy happening by Stephens. The only play I can recall him giving up was to Kelce on what should have been a sack. Marlon stuck out to me on both Worthy tds.

I don't want to say Orr was bad but the defense seems to be a lot more reactive early but it is a new scheme. Can't even remember around what week the defense started to gel with Mike but I don't think I can be too mad at the performance. Short fields and some weak calls extended drives for them.

MM’s first few weeks last year were rough. Don’t know if Orr reaches the MM highs but week 1 was a significantly better look for him in comparison, especially against the Chiefs.

Lamar’s getting cooked for his last few throws but that one to Likely in the corner, while maneuvering the pocket, was tough, and the pass to Zay looked like it was actually intended for Bateman. What the hell do I know tho
Zay throw was brutal , but that last drive was alot of fun. Really impressive by LJ.

At the risk of triggering someone I will say as a Chiefs fan I don’t see how anyone can be overly critical of Jackson. He nearly accounted for 400 freaking yards on his own. Sur he missed a couple throws but that’s football. It is easy to say that when we are here and he is worried when Jones is going to get to him. It is a coaching issue. Henry should never touch the ball less than 20-25 times. I don’t care if seven in a row go for no gain, he wears down any line and can go thirty plus at anytime. It feels at times watching the Ravens that the coaches don’t trust the game plan then toss it out and rely on Jackson to “ sand lot” them to a win. When it works it is great when it doesn’t he’s a bum. He made as good a throw as there is on the last play… it just didn’t work out. The play before was not on him but on the receiver. Why would you leave a large whole and run into coverage? The corner shot was a very difficult throw that not many make. Btw I agree the procedure penalties in the beginning were BS. We had almost the exact same thing last year. Hope you guys have a good year and we will probably see you in January.

Thank you for this

I think you nailed it toward the middle with my most frustrating thought. It’s seemingly always on Lamar to play hero ball. Our big plays are largely him working off script and extending opportunities.

It was like that with the Patriots back when they were a jugganaut team within the AFC. Just got to play better sound football next time. This team kept it quite close against the chiefs and hasnt reached its ceiling yet either
The difference with the pats that kills me is at least the pats didn't make mistakes, they would never lineup incorrectly or such. The chiefs are committing penalties and lining up incorrectly, they just aren't getting called
