Next Up: @ Bengals

tbf with the emergence of oweh and travis jones you might be right
the secondary should continue to improve though given the level of talent we have on the back end
I think they’re starting to get the rotation right on the backend too. Not that he’s been bad, but more Nate Wiggins instead of Eddie Jackson seemed to be a better thing. Jackson and Ar’Darius becoming more package guys. Letting a combo of Humphrey, Wiggins, and Hamilton play the slot.

i do wonder if we're gonna see jackson phased out a bit even more than he has been so far - washington has just looked like a far more dynamic guy and he's more versatile across the backend too which helps the usage of kyle and marlo

I would if I was in charge. Don't even think that's anything against Eddie either. He's a fine player, and one I'd trust to fill either S spot in a pinch if needed. Just think there are other guys playing well and it seemingly makes more sense to build on that.

I was so happy we we signed him as a UDFA. Really felt he should have been drafted early 3rd round, but he went drafted because of his size. He's always been a dynamic player.

feels more like he should be a backup for Williams than the 3rd safety

Tbh, after reviewing more film, I don’t think its the back end that’s been all that bad. There’s been let ups for sure but its the linebackers who have been getting attacked in coverage. Roquon Smith and Jerome Simpson imo have struggled at times. They’ve been able to compensate by being missiles against the run but coverage is where they’ve struggled at.

I think the unit will get better as the season goes on. Wiggins has had his moments where he ha failed to turn around for the ball and has paid for it. Same with Stephens but Marlon has been playing really good coverage lately.

Roquan has not been good in coverage this year, he’s frequently been a step late for big catch and run plays.

Middle of the field has been the weakness for sure. Roquan has been more okay than good so far. Simpson is showing signs but still learning. Williams has been keying late on stuff at S. Those 3 have been the biggest problems.

Maybe Michael Pierce's minor injury that kept him out last week was a little gift. It seems Travis should be the starter and Michael should spell him and not the other way around

I'm curious to see if our run defense keeps it up. While MacDonald did a nice job keeping their passing game in check, their run game tends to play better than average against us because we're daring them to beat us with Mixon.
