btw,
Lamar is now 9-1 vs the Bengals and 5-1 vs Burrow

I believe he’s getting WORSE at game management from years ago.If McPherson had made that kick we'd be talking about how Harbaugh's stupidity cost us the game.
He's very lucky.
All he has to do on Sundays is game management and he's still bad at it after 17 years.
Fuck Deonte HartyI hate to put it all on one person but Marcus Williams has been so bad that I wonder if simply playing someone else there might help out. I don't know. Just feels like he's so late to key on his responsibilities which isn't helping the other guys look good either. The middle of the field is a problem right now.
Don't disagree on ST either. I know Harty gets some hate (hi @UPennChem lol) but I think not having him today showed his true value - steady returner who makes good decisions and isn't afraid to field a ball.
I agree with all of these issues, but point 2 is the one that stands out most to me so far this year. So many miscommunications and we always seem to get burned on them. People will probably try to pin the Chase TD before half on Marcus Williams (and I don't think he's totally innocent) but then we have Humphrey and Jackson both lower on the field in the same guy's pocket. Hard to tell for sure who should have been where, but it looked like cover 6, which means Humphrey should have been responsible for the deep third. Just can't keep having that stuff happen.I think there's a few issues with the pass defense.
1. Even dating to last year, I thought there was inconsistent tackling. This seems to be heightened last year.
2. The Ravens don't seem to be as confident or aware of their responsibilities in zone coverage. They don't seem to always be aware of who they're passing a receiver off to or have the awareness of when to pass off. So many miscommunication.
3. Think the Ravens aren't getting great safety play from Marcus Williams or Eddie Jackson as two deep safeties.
4. I haven't seen Kyle Hamilton used in the same role, really. In 2023, he was the one covering tight ends and big slot receivers. Now, that seems to be a role taken on by Malik Harrison and Roquan.
5. I think opposing teams are really good at abusing favorable match ups and the Ravens aren't good at adjusting. In week 1, it was Rashee Rice when he was in the slot against Roquan/Harrison. Week 2, it was Adams with Stephens on him. Week 3, it's Lamb with Wiggins on him. Week 4, it's... no, they played this one pretty well. Week 5, it's Stephens in man against Chase/Higgins.
I will also add- Roquan just looks sluggish in coverage. I'd have to see his usage from 2023 to compare, but he just seems so out of sorts, which is concerning considering the contract he landed.
WR talent is the difference. Our secondary has been cooked by Rashee Rice, Davante Adams, Ceedee Lamb, and then Higgins and Chase. Bills don't have anyone of that caliber (Coleman whos their traitsy-ist guy mossed Stephens twice in the way we saw Adams do.
And that should tell you something. Because we have a stacked secondary. It means we're calling the defense in a way that allows the guys on the other side of the ball to beat you with technique. And the hilarious part is antithetical to what's supposed to happen. Orr is the number one DC caller of Dime defense. How is it that you're worst in the league on passing defense when you have a stacked roster of DBs and you're putting 6 on the field constantly.
Something is wrong wrong
yes. I was having a conversation with @Truth about not having Queen and how it could be affecting our usage of dime vs big nickel.im not a fan of how much we're using dime tbh
big nickel was so successful for us last year - more kyle hamilton in the nickel is ideal to me without sacrificing those LBs - maybe they just dont think simpson can do it for 60 snaps a game but he seems like he's growing up fast to me
RIGHT. If this is some crazy overcorrection to avoid trotting Simpson out there too much, I feel that's just an obvious mistake. He's hardly the problem. Tbh it's usually Roquan and especially Harrison who've been the problem at ILB. Get Simpson back out there and play big Nickel. This insane dime shit simply fails against every good WR corps.im not a fan of how much we're using dime tbh

It’s easy to forget that Mac’s first few weeks as DC were pretty awful before settling in and ascending in year 2. Not saying Orr will follow the same trajectory, but it’s too early for permanent gloom and doom.I gotta say I’m pretty concerned about Orr as DC. There’s just too much miscommunication going on.
I really wanted to keep MacDonald as assistant head coach and DC and eventual head coach but I guess Harbs isn’t ready to retire.
Case in point: he fumbled two shotgun snaps today. The first he turned into a scramble and a great throw to Likely in the end zone. The second would have cost us the game had it not been for a bad ball placement by the holder for a game winning FG. With Lamar you get a variety of excitement. Some good, some bad. Fortunately the good outweighs the bad in most cases. The danger with Lamar is that he so frequently does stuff that is completely insane that sometimes the other exceptional stuff he does starts to seem routine and you dont appreciate it the way you should in the moment
Indeed it was .It’s easy to forget that Mac’s first few weeks as DC were pretty awful before settling in and ascending in year 2. Not saying Orr will follow the same trajectory, but it’s too early for permanent gloom and doom.
I think there is some valid reason though. That being we were sold the idea he's just continuing the system. He's gone in a totally different direction and to a very large extent. It’s easy to forget that Mac’s first few weeks as DC were pretty awful before settling in and ascending in year 2. So how does Orr baffle Buffalo and than get friggin scorched by Cincy ?I think there is some valid reason though. That being we were sold the idea he's just continuing the system. He's gone in a totally different direction and to a very large extent.
By definition you're moving away from something that worked. When you see the consequences all types of new issues gave emerged. Ro and Harrison. Stephens and Williams and Jackson. Hamilton not being used in the same way.
It's pretty inexplicable. Either Orr doesn't have Mike's chops or he really thinks he's smarter. Either option is bad.
divisional game and they are much more talented on the offensive side of the ballSo how does Orr baffle Buffalo and than get friggin scorched by Cincy ?
Thank you lol. Also Buffalo is probably not very good. People's perspective preseason was probably more accurate than their pseudo good record vs a cupcake schedule indicated.divisional game and they are much more talented on the offensive side of the ball
Did you expect anything else from the idiot?Taylor's whole presser is just Lamar made crazy plays
