The Lamar, The Offence and The Pass Defence

I do think the skill guys took a major step against the bengals

Derrick Henry is derrick henry
Zay looked unguardable at times
Bate has one of the best releases in the league which means he's a nightmare for CBs who press him and it looks like he and Lamar are finally developing some chemistry and trust
Mark had his best game of the year
Likely is a guaranteed playmaker with the ball in his hands and the rapport that he and Lamar have in the scramble drill already looks ridiculous
Justice hill only gets better and better as a 3rd down back (both in pass pro and as a receiver out of the backfield)

and then we have a few other contributors - kolar just had his best receiving game as a raven, tylan wallace was a big contributor at the end of the game, agholor has been useful the last 2 years

it does feel that this team could maybe do with a better WR3 (whether that be by making a splash for a guy like Davante - and bumping guys down the depth chart - or whether that be by finding someone who can come in and be an option as a WR3 but idk if we can find that guy)
I really still like Nelly. I know he hasn't done much this season, but we've used two tight ends and Ricard it quite a bit this year. But ever since last year when he's on the field he seems to make plays.

I think I keep asking this and keep forgetting but what's up with Walker?

And the team usually starts finding its groove around weeks 4-6.

Still think we need to reconsider the RG position

i just dont think it's happening at this point without a faalele injury
he's improved for sure too

with walker - he had a rib injury in camp that kept him out of practice, im guessing he's got a long way to go given he was a raw prospect and now missed basically the whole of preseason

hope has got to be that he comes on late in the year but right now i would assume he's gonna ride the inactives and basically red shirt

In that case I hope the Browns keep losing and we take a shot at Cooper. Have no problem with our wr room though as long as they stay healthy.

i think nelly's fine
just think you could really get this offence humming and robust vs all game situations if you had a better 3rd option

but maybe you dont need to with the way likely and andrews are

can't believe it took an injury to start this guy
there will be growing pains, but the great vastly outweighs the bad at the moment

he's had 2 pretty bad moments in his first 5 games that have been disasters... chris jones strip sack on his first nfl snap, missing his blocking assignment on the safety this week, but the general level of play has been so far ahead of expectations and schedule - the footwork and athleticism is as advertised

he's looked like one of the best OTs in the class so far (albeit early)

Look how active the hands are. Hes really firing those mitts, he doesn’t let defenders get their hands inside. And he is just a mirror out there with his feet, he’s always square to the rusher

i also like that he's mixing up his sets
Love when he attacks the wide arc rush. He doesn’t let guys get a step on him and knocks them out of their path stopping any chance at them gaining depth.

He also seems to be getting really good at using his quick feet to absorb the bull rush, he’s catching the rush and every chop of the feet absorbs more of the push. That is what I was concerned about when we drafted him because when he faced potential nfl rushers he was getting put on skates often, but it’s not looking like a problem at all

Another point about Roger attacking laterally on these wide alignments, it puts him in a position to run block against contain assignments. It could give Lamar good looks to scramble even though there’s a contain defender there. Definitely saw a few clips there that looked like Hubbard? Was on contain and roger went after his ass, cutting off any potential contain angle if Lamar decided to scramble that way

looks like it was probably more about technique with his anchor than it was a lack of play strength

think there are still run blocking issues to work on, obviously, but this is a great start to his career - the future looks bright

After we drafted Roger (and I did a deep dive) I thought he'd eventually be able to get to where he's playing at right now but he's vastly exceeded my expectations. I thought he was gonna need to get wayyy stronger before he'd be effective. So far technique is really paying dividends.

If it's true that Bateman is legitimately, by statistics, the number 1 most open WR in the league then we're kinda blowing it. That's truly crazy. He should be targeted far more than he is if that's true.

Brandon Stephens being called out among others for not being in his stance when the ball is snapped. All 22 film channel has been particularly harsh on Faalele, Stephens, and Orr. I think all of it is warranted.

Crazy athleticism and potential but he was a raw prospect coming out of college. He's buried on the depth chart not to mention you have Andrews-Likely to feed targets to. Doubt he would get any targets.
