The Offseason Thread

I wouldn't be completely shocked to see the Ravens stay in the bidding if it's not ridiculous. He's a big part of the offense.

With that being said, I honestly don't think Maxx is too far off as a blocker, so hopefully he stays a bit under the radar while everyone goes for Boyle.

i was just looking at bits and pieces of the last year and while maxx is a pretty good blocker he's a completely different kind of tool - he's more of a TE/FB/H-back as a blocker where he's constantly pulling across the line to lead runners through the hole or he's blocking as a full back etc.

boyle is more of a traditional in-line blocker where you stick him on the strong side and let him block someone at the LoS or leak out on play action in that way

they were really nice complements to each other but boyle was doing a much more difficult job and was very successful at it

id also be surprised if the ravens werent in the bidding but if 20 teams are involved it only takes one of them to bank on the upside and he's gone

We should end up with a comp pick from one of Boyle / Maxx and if not signed John Brown and ZDS. Of course this all depends on who we sign.

I'm not putting CJ on this list because I'm pretty sure he will be signed.

i dont think maxx would get us a comp pick - no way he'd be in the top 32 eligible free agent contracts...
honestly boyle would be pretty touch and go too...

ZDS would and John Brown would both net us picks i think - probably a 4th for ZDS depending on the contract and a 4th/5th for John Brown maybe

Wallace just missed getting us a comp pick as he was the 33rd eligible fa and it wasn't a big contract. The eagles were very creative with his contract, per reports. I don't remember how much his contract was for in the end as I haven't looked it up, but it wasn't much.

i mean he's right that he's in baltimore when he could literally be anywhere else at the moment
he's got the bug for it and i guess it frustrates him that it's not really up to him whether he gets to stay here anymore
Sure this offseason he’s in Baltimore. I remember seeing him in LA partying 2 offseasons ago. He really likes going out and drinking. I’m not saying he’s an alcoholic by any means. Anyways I think the fact he’s been to so many pro bowls in such a short time just overvalued him as a player. I’d be shocked if his agent isn’t asking the Ravens to make him the highest paid ILB. I just think he’s not going to get that from the Ravens.

and he should reset the market considering the best ILBs in the game, Kuechly and Wagner's contracts are from 2015. He will reset the market until they get paid again. Most likely they will get a new contract in 2020. I think Mosely ends up getting 13 to 14m per year average.

Reported by La Canfora, so that clearly means Suggs will either retire or sign with Steelers...

...in the same universe where Zach Orr got an extension and Torrey Smith returned to the Ravens twice.
lets add the Skins were going to sign Bill Cowher as head coach. The next day they hired Shanahan.
