Week 8: Lamar, Our Hands, and The Coaching

Yes and we go to next week pretending this team doesn’t need MASSIVE changes

Idk about you but I haven’t given a fuck about regular season wins since 2019. I’m looking for reasons to believe in this team come January. Right now i feel like im about to waste every Sunday from now til then. And if hamilton secures it, id feel the same, because I wouldnt feel like we stand a chance in the playoffs.
Right now we have the “Let Lamar save our asses “ football team . It ain’t pretty .

I think I speak for 90% of Raven fans. When we scored with alittle over 2 minutes to go… we all knew this defense was going to fold at that moment and that they was going to march down the field and score on us.

And that’s exactly what happened. That’s how bad this problem has been all year.. we have zero faith in our defense
I was surprised we got a ball back. Thought they'd just eat up all the time and kneel down, maybe kick a FG with seconds left.

We employ the most dynamic player in the NFL and completely took him out of a critical play. There's no excuse for that, even if it had worked. I said it was a dumb play call as soon as they lined up and there's no result that would have changed that for me.
Lamar at least will cause some hesitation amongst the def. Our OL has shown against good DLs we don't hold up well running right at them I'm obvious situations.

I'm just tryin' to hang with what we have week to week and hope things gel in the next 2 months. It's really not that far fetched, we have the capability, just need to execute.

January is 9 games away. Unless we fall off a cliff and are out of the tournament, I'm gonna enjoy pulling for my boys, win or lose.

That's how I remember it. What jumps out vividly was week 4 vs Miami and JAD being 10000% lost and giving up I believe 2 maybe 3TDs

What about week 12 against the Jaguars in 2022? Since you forgot let's do recap and looked at what you said specifically about their performance :

Defense:

The first thing I'll say is just wtf? This offense we were going up against has legitimately a young, mediocre but ascending QB, one good running back, and a fringe WR1/2. Outside of that it's fringe replacement level guys.

The defense was totally up down in a way that makes no sense. It's hard to even rationalize.

1st quarter, dominant play.
2nd quarter, we start letting screens destroy us and the run defense goes out the window.
3rd quarter, good adjustments and play
4th quarter, the years 4th 2 score blown lead for the loss.

This team really went out there and gave up 18 points in the 4th. When anything mattered, like on 4th down and longs, we just capitulated. When all we had to do was not give up a TD, we capitulated. And we did this TWICE. When all we had to do was just not give up a 2 point conversion, we capitulated.

Ultimately this defense is soft as shit. And it has so many parallel analogies to how the offense just blew it. Like the offense dropping TD passes, every time this team got a 1st down sack they just immediately gave up a 25 yard play the very next down. Every time they were in 3rd or 4th and long when it mattered we gave it up. If the defense makes even just one more play on any of about 5 occasions, we don't lose this game.

Pass rush was on the outside was nonexistent.
Oweh is ass. You cant do nothing for an entire season buddy.
Marcus had his worst game as a Raven
Chuck was ass
Geno played slow today
Run defense gave up critical plays to backups.

Outside of Broderick Washington and Marlon Humphrey who were excellent, the defense just didn't show up. Like the offense, if they make even one of many plays, we don't lose this game.

This one frustrates me to no end though because I feel like there were coaching issues that bled into the defensive issues. Ffs why is Stephens matched up against the one WR who caught all their passes on the goal line stand? Why couldn't we find a way to help out Peters when we saw what was happening? Why did we just give them free access to screens constantly? You mean to tell me Ojabo has had 3 whole weeks of being a full participant but he was what's his fuck PS LB who won't be in the NFL next year gets the nod instead? WTF at so many levels on this side of the ball.

Spent most of that first drive trying to challenge them horizontally. Then in the one moment where it made more sense than ever to challenge them horizontally, we tell them exactly what we're going to do.

I can’t stomach the thought of wasting Lamar Jackson’s entire career. That’s why I can’t just be okay with pulling for my boys every week. We about chips over here

Just how similar on how we felt about the defense performance regarding Mike MacDonald first years as DC to a degree but overall stuff happens. sometimes a team just loses games they were expected to win.
With mike you saw flashes.. we had a problem with finishing but you saw flashes of how great he was gonna become. I dnt think i ever doubted mike but orr on the other hand is not good yet.. jmad ass too

And somehow it’s all on the 9 out of 11 returning starters and their lack of execution
Yeah. They all must have forgotten to play ball overnight.

Dumbest decision John made his entire career. And fucking inexcusable one. If we don't win SB this season, which is looking more and more likely, he will be sacked. '25 is the last year of his current contract.

If he isn't and gets another extension instead, Lamar will turn 30 before getting a real shot at Lombardi.
