Week 8: Lamar, Our Hands, and The Coaching

I feel like the bolded has been really understated. Feels like all of our CBs are playing 10 yards off and then they run a curl, pick up 7 or 8, and make it a 2nd and short that quickly. Rinse and repeat. There's something off philosophically, because the Ravens defense I know is up in a motherfuckers face.
Last drive running off 0 back to back when the players bailed out the bad call the play before had me seeing red

Jesus Christ Tank it’s okay to admit John has made some shit decisions over the years and promoting Orr so soon is one of them. Harbaugh don’t want you lil bro

What's gonna annoy the shit out of me is that's gonna be the best offensive performance from Winston and the Browns (unless the Bengals have something to say about it).

I think Zach Orr has shown flashes as well..his best game was against the Bills. I would say he did a sold job against the chiefs and even the commanders as well. I just think Zach Orr gets more heat because Lamar and the offense in general is playing the best we have probably ever seen.
I'm sorry but "flashes" don't excuse us having one of the worst defenses in NFL HISTORY. We are on pace to give almost 5,000 PASSING yards this season. We are on pace to surrender 36 PASSING touchdowns this season. Those statistics are not excusable and Orr needs to be held accountable for them

I agree. The player aren’t executing well.

I do have to say there really hasn’t been a great defensive game by the Ravens. The Bills was the closest. I do think the communication looked better today out there on the field. Not sure if anyone else saw it that way but I didn’t see guys looking lost.
Well that Tillman(?) TD where Oweh was running laterally along the line and Stephans had no idea who he was covering counts for me

Even the announcers were pointing out the communication issues on that play and in recent games. Communication issues are definitely on the coach. Yes, players need to execute but if they don't know what the heck they are doing, then they are obviously not understanding the assignment.

Originally I was against the idea of bringing in another receiver but that drop from Bateman was the last straw for me.

Biggest issue we have is pass rush
communication on defense
execution - dropped INTS lack of play making
o-line penalties

Robert Saleh is available.
Saleh is with the Packers

Yeah that’s a good observation. Do you recall anymore than that? I just feel like it was generally smoother in communication. I mean, if we looked lost on 50% of plays I would say today it was less than 15%

I honestly am getting vibes we have some locker room issue. The defense doesn’t really look bought into things. It’s very very weird. I’m just being entirely speculative but I’m getting a sense that there is some drama going on here. Marcus Williams could be apart of it since communication looked better with him out of it today.
We got lost at least couple times BEFORE the snap. They are not sure where they are supposed to line up. Then they all "run to the ball", which is 100% Orr, leading to couple of our guys leave uncovered players.

It is a complete shit show.

Yeah communication was a lot more pre-snap today, which I guess is an improvement? I don’t really know. Felt like everyone played their responsibilities for the most part. They just weren’t very good at it.

What about week 12 against the Jaguars in 2022? Since you forgot let's do recap and looked at what you said specifically about their performance :
Yeah that definitely happened. Week 12 would've been when the defense was playing 3 quarters well and blowing 4th quarter leads. Which is where we got our modern juju about 4th quarter leads. That ended up being the singular issue that MM defenses had that year and being fair there was some bleed over into year 2 albeit way less.

His defensive issues were totally real and pretty separate from Orrs. What i was referring to was the communication issues. That's why I gave you the Miami JAD game because that was literally what was said at that press conference.

I don't know what you think you're doing pulling old records as if it to prove something. Ultimately I feel both takes were legitimate and you have too much time on your hands. Thanks for the laugh though

After reflecting a little bit more, I wonder if Eddie blowing that cover 0 was ever so slightly intentional. We were in dire straights there at the end of the game. Another first down and we get no shot at getting the ball back. Stuck hoping for a missed or blocked FG. So might as well send the house and see if you can knock them out of FG range, or give up the tuddy and give the O the ball back with time to try to make something happen. I might be reaching, but I also don’t hate the play call in hindsight.
