The Lamar, The Offence and The Pass Rush

Faalele in L2 is funny. Seldom manages to intentionally block anyone, but it takes ages to run around him, so he gets results anyway
It’s one of my favorite things this year. He just seemingly gets in the way because no wants to run directly into a man that large. And it works. It shouldn’t, but it does.

Same idea as Orlando brown in pass pro, doesn’t matter how slowly he drops back, you can’t get around him in time

I've been a believer in Zay for a long time and it's great to see what he's turning into. He doesn't scream number 1 on paper but route running, hands, and ability in the open field say otherwise. Thank god Monken finally got his head out of his ass and realized this guy can be used on much more than end arounds and screens. Those things should stay but the downfield ability just adds to the excitement.
Monken has used him as almost purely a gadget guy for way too long

It seriously baffles me about the Hollywood hate. Dude had maybe 2 had games with drops in his whole time here. Also didn't fight for extra yards. But he is obviously among the best WRs our franchise has ever had. Elite deep threat and his chemistry with Lamar was stellar.

Do I think Zay is gonna/maybe already is better? Absolutely. But if Zay had just turned into Hollywood, we would’ve been very happy. We have luxury of being even happier.

If you like/dislike players because of their performance, then sure it can baffle you.
I like/dislike players for purely selfish reasons, such as their attitude, their physicality or just general likeability. My favourite players include Ar'Darius Washington, DeShon Elliot, Pat Ricard, Nick Boyle who never have been or will be the stars of any team. The same way, I can't stand Marquise Brown because of his avoiding contact at all cost and his mouthing off here and there thinking he's a big deal. Doesn't matter if he had 10000 yards for the Ravens every season, I'd still dislike him as much. I generally don't hate/dislike many Ravens players, but that type of player gets on my nerves.

I do wonder if the Ravens would re-sign Hollywood. I know he’s not a free agent but just curious with everything. I sorta think he burned his bridge here.

And you have every right! I'm still talking more so about the people who say he sucked. He certainly didn't

I think alot of it had to do with his under utilization in Roman's scheme, but he averaged 51 yds a game in his career with us.... Thats not going to cut it when your drafted in round 1

He wasn’t the guy he was supposed to be, that’s for sure. So much hype about him every offseason showing his strength training, always had us thinking he was about to break out, but he never became much more than a Tyler Lockett jr, and seriously let us down many times with his drops.

And I was a HUGE Hollywood fan in the 2019 season and 2020 offseason. He steadily soured my opinion on him as the years went on. He’s been okay in the league. Certainly nothing more than a complementary piece, WR3/Borderline WR2 on probably most nfl teams due to the abundance of wr talent.

I respect it but even this feels a bit harsh imo. Hollywood is the definition of a quality WR2 with real deep threat ability. Agree he never became a high end WR1 who was super reliable and consistent.

They're going to have to sprint with those goalposts if they want to make it back to their base of "hasn't won a Super Bowl" before he catches up with them.

I object to the notion that a one off single elimination tournament really tells you who the best team are anyway - all it really tells you is who won on that day. In sports with a league, the winner of that is considered the best, with the knock out cup winners viewed more as good + lucky.

I wish more NFL discourse was seen through that lens. The team who dominated the regular season shouldn't be viewed as having something to prove. The real reason the NFL decides things with a one off big game is because that's more lucrative, not because it tells us which team was best.
That notion could hold water if every team in the league played each other home/away like in some other professional sports leagues, but they don’t, not possible. The reality is the NFL regular season is played to determine tournament seeding, and for entertainment. The only trophy to be won in the fall is a division championship, nothing league wide.

Bo Nix said the same thing that all these opposing QBs say after playing us. "Yeah we caught em at the right time. We knew they were gonna be in zero."

(On why the philly special worked)
