The Defence, the Harbaugh, and the Offensive Penalties

Who'd have thought this would be a title of a game thread lol.

Defence won in the trenches even without Roquan. Chris Board was excellent processing in the hook/curl, Harrison was his usual aggressive self in the running game. Took away the run game and did enough in the passing game. Got stops when they needed them.

CBs were excellent in coverage. Marlo excellent as always. Wiggins looked like a baller. Refs killed them with some bullshit calls late.

And credit to Orr who made some good calls in big situations to get key plays and stops.

We don't win this game without Harbs and some of those ballsy 4th down decisions. He truly is the Big Brother.

And this game could have been even further out of sight if the offence didnt have a few drive killing penalties in there. Mekari extended his lead atop the OL holding penalty rankings.

It is somewhat ridiculous that Lamar can have a 3 TD night and not be the star of the show in the way he normally is. Just had a normal night and ended up with 3 TDs. But you compare it to his normal prime time showings and it does feel a bit ordinary. A reminder not to under-appreciate the greatness we get to witness on a weekly basis.

It was true last week and continues this week but not having Marcus Williams on the field is paying dividends defensively. Man was anchor making the pass defense one of the worst of all time (think prior to Steelers game they had 4th most YPG given up in NFL history). Now they look like a real defense again, albeit with Stephens still being of questionable quality.

JK is stilll a pussy.

Good game and what a catch by Bateman . He had a pretty solid game and it was dope to see Justice Hill get his touchdown. Zach Orr really is getting better as a play caller but many I wish the pass rush was more consistent. Can't wait until Micheal Pierce returns.

The linebackers played pretty well and overall the secondary coverage was solid. Ladd Mcconkey( I think I spelled his name wrong ) can play though. You can tell Monken learned from the Steelers game as he stuck with the run game especially after seeing for some reason Lamar being off on some passes.

Glad we fed Henry a bit even with all those short gains.

Our O-line really isn't that good man

Refs can suck my dick with those bullshit ass penalties on their last drive.

Offense reminded me of the Bucs game. First couple of drives were absolute garbage, but once we got going, we scored on a number of consecutive drives. Love to see it. Again, it's amazing what our offense does when we can run the ball effectively. OL looked good as the game went on. Lamar started to lock in. Bateman with a very nice TD catch. Shout out to MANdrews with that grown ass man catch.

Defense - After the first drive and before the last drive, they played better than I expected. Pass-rush was hit or miss but they somewhat got it going in the 2nd half. Holy shit with the almost sacks. Bro come on now. But then again, shout out to Herbert for moving in the pocket like that. Which leads me to my last point (for now)....

.....when I tell you that I was sweating when the Chargers were on the clock, lemme tell you. Boy what a difference that would've been.

Mekari clearly better than vorhees was when he was the starter but these holding penalties are killers

If he has another game with a penalty like that against the eagles I wonder if we look at a change at LG over the bye week

Taking a little bit of a board sabbatical, but have to come in here to give Harrison and Board their flowers before I depart for a bit. I was really worried after drive 1 after they relentlessly attacked the middle, but both of those dudes settled in and made life tough for the Chargers.
