Lamar and Allen both do way more with less. If you had to start a franchise from scratch, I think you are wrong if you don’t choose one of these guys.

Mahomes and Burrow if you have all-pro weapons can amplify their output more than Lamar and Allen can. But this is harder to maintain long-term with the cap situation.

You see KC turn more into a defense first team and have Mahomes protect the ball now to be competitive. While on the flip you see the Bengals miss the playoffs even with a DPOY candidate, OPOY, and Burrow receiving MVP votes.

But I have no sympathy for the Bengals or Burrow. You pitch to the front office that you need 2 all pro wide receivers, you’re now seeing the consequences everywhere else.
I wouldnt choose mahommes if we building from scratch for sure.. tbh even if we arent building from scratch id choose lamar but id always be worried that he gonna make those mistakes like he did vs bills..

Most other qbs mistakes get washed away cause their defense gets turnovers or sheer luck. Allen should have at least 3 or 4 TOs vs the Chiefs. 2 terrible throws that were dropped by defenders and multiple fumbles. Hurts throws a red zone int but his defense gets a pick 6 next next series. This isn't a shot at Flacco but every post season he played in our defense got more turnovers than Lamar has had his entire playoff career. Not all time playoffs, but every playoff run they went on the defense has more TOs than they've forced with Lamar at QB combined. That said still gotta protect the rock.

I’m not sure if I agree with the amplify output more than Lamar, Lamar put up a historic offense last year finally having an elite RB and good WRs. 41/4 and nearly 1k rushing yards himself, then you add the team rushing stats and overall offense and it’s better than anything the bengals have put up on offense. We’ve never really seen Lamar with elite WRs

Oh man I hate watched that AFCCG Allen should have had so many INTs. I’m pissed the chiefs got the generous sneak call but also fuck the Bills. Your points about mistakes being washed away is insanely true, Lamar has to be nearly perfect in some of these games. Would love to see the defense just dominate an entire game. And not like the chiefs game where they were on their heels to start and put us in a hole despite a holding call nullifying another chiefs TD.

Lamar’s rookie year against the chargers they did dominate tho, but that’s whatever

Not 100% sure if it's right but saw something about them taking the ball away at a historically low rate in the playoffs. Then add in lack of consistent pressure.

Then the team seems to make the worst possible mistake whenever momentum is finally swinging our way.

The Zay Flowers fumble isn’t talked about enough.

And we definitely on this forum compared and contrasted our D’s lack of impact plays compared to other successful playoff teams, I think we’ve created 2 turnovers in all the Lamar playoff games. Maybe not even, maybe just 1, because I know one was with Tyler Huntley

I think 2 or 3 and the last one was Peters vs Tenn.

You're right about the last TO. It was a Hurst fumble recovery against the Bengals.

think we've only had 2 and 1 was the tyler huntley game (where we also gifted them 6 points on their 2 yard line)

and we've literally given over 2 of the most insane fumbles in big moments each of the last 2 years to effectively end our season by 2 of our biggest playmakers who don't normally make those kinds of mistakes with the flowers fumble last season and the andrews fumble (and drop) this season

People talk about the 2 point drop, but that fumble was the real killer. I didn’t have much faith that our defense was gonna stop a field goal with that much time left, but if our offense continued down the field the way it had been when mark fumbled, then that whole fourth quarter changes.

Another one that isn’t mentioned enough is how we ended our drive after that Bateman catch inside the 5. In that position, Make them stop Henry and Lamar on the ground, if they stop it then oh well we gave it our best, but dropping back over and over was inexcusable.

FUCK that game was so frustrating man.

so many chances to turn that game around after digging ourselves into the hole - so many opportunities to take control (and if we had that would have dramatically changed the narratives around the two teams) - just capitulated in the key moments over and over

we outgained the bills by 200 yards in that loss
we outgained the chiefs in that loss on 16 fewer plays from scrimmage
we outgained them the bills in 2020 by 120 yards despite scoring 3 points and lamar getting injured late
we outgained the titans in 2019 by over 200 yards in that loss

4 losses where we outgained the opposing team (in 3 of 4 cases, pretty significantly)

it's why turnovers are so important, and our lack of defensive turnovers has made the margin for error in these big games so low

it's why luck is such a big part of winning in the playoffs and we have been really unlucky

Damn it I forgot about that sequence. Yea man, fuck! Another regular season to clench through hoping for no injuries and seeding fortune. Playoffs are all that matter

It actually clearly illustrates how unimportant stats are and that they rarely tell the true story. And ball security is king, especially in the playoffs.

Man I hope one of Loop or Hoyland turn out to be a dependable place kicker. We’ve been spoiled having J. Tuck for all those years, kind of taking for granted the importance of having a consistent kicker.

we can't ever expect another kicker like Tucker, but dependable we shall be able to find. Hoping that is Loop.

i do also think though that the standard of kicking in the league over the past few years has got better in general

getting a generational kicker is unlikely

but feels pretty reasonable, especially with our track record over the last decade, that we'll be able to find a decent one comparable to the relative quality within the league

To not score on that Bate deep pass really hurt
That fumble from Andrews was horrible and still, to me, the single worst play of the game.

We have been unlucky in the playoffs with turnovers and haven't been able to produce any of our own which is concerning.

I was reading somewhere that the offense continually has to make the deepest drives of any other team on offense to score.

From the start the fumble has always been the bigger play to me. Killed momentum and we're looking to take the lead or possibly just be down 2 that drive.

Yeah not getting a td there was disgusting.

This absolutely has happened. Before Tucker began to slump he already had multiple younger guys on his heels.
