2025 Offseason Thread

There’s only 2 or 3 preseason games now right? Gonna be hard to make the 53.

But it might be easier to sneak them onto the PS.

I don't understand why they have any PS games anymore. Inter squad scrimmages where the stars actually play would get better ratings. 2-3 per team on NFLN.

Opening TC and i have to admit my eyes are focused on Tyler Loop. Those first 5 games will come down to ST and FG's so he better be ready.
Reports on his offseason have not been great at all.

I don’t like drafting kickers and punters because it puts pressure on the team to hold on to them early. We were lucky that cundiff was an obvious cut candidate, we may have missed out on Tucker. We missed out on will lutz to hold onto cundiff ffs.

we didn't miss out on will lutz because of cundiff
lutz was a post-tucker guy

you might be thinking of graham gano???

I'm not saying it absolutely will get better, but I do know they've made some pretty significant tweaks to his mechanics and expected some struggles. They need to see the improvement now obviously.

So I think punters are drafted somewhat higher in most cases, so that's marginally true for these guys.

I do not think, by any stretch of the imagination, there's pressure on the Ravens to actually keep any sixth round pick, and certainly not a kicker. If he sucks in the preseason or in camp, he'll be gone. At a minimum, if he's average there and sucks in the first month or two of the season, they'll move on then too. We have a pretty lengthy track record now of day 3 picks not even making the 53 in year 1.

2024: we cut Leary in the preseason
2023: KBK we cut in the preseason (a 5th rounder). Actually signed elsewhere.
2022: we cut Badie in the preseason.
2021: we traded Wade (a 5th rounder) four months after drafting him AND we cut Mason in the preseason. He signed elsewhere.

We made six picks in round 6 and 7 this year. I don't think it'd be a stretch to suggest at least two of them might not make the 53 man roster. Could easily be more. And the decision on whether Loop is one of them or not is, in my opinion, quite a bit easier than the other guys. Is output is much easier to measure.

I think steelers might scare me this season. Those two and maybe even 3 games might scare me this season.also, i think the bills ass but their schedule so easy that that should get first seed.it we get first seed, that would be crazy impressive

I've never been more confident about the Steelers continuing to be totally irrelevant in this league than this upcoming season. I don't think there's anything they do well as a team.

They won't be terrible, but I think their absolute peak is the same as prior seasons, which is a wildcard round exit in the playoffs.

I have to admit I love it when the Browns actually lean in to being, you know, brown. They aren't the Oranges or the Mandarins. It's a color they have all to themselves why not own it and ditch the old stuff? They should be the NFL's Padres not the mirror image of another team in the division.

We need to sweep them this year, so long overdue

I honestly don't even care. They're not our target anymore. "Rivalries" have more meaning when both teams are good. It was nice to play them in the playoffs, but that game was a formality. PIT hasn't been good in years and our objectives are much bigger than their's.

If they beat us, its the biggest win on their schedule by a country mile. If we beat them, its just another win. As long as we win the North and are in the running for home field advantage, I couldn't care less whether we finish 3-3 or 4-2 in the division. There's bigger fish.

Everybody at this point understands that division games are tougher because they see us more. Generally less scoring, a lot more physical, tend to be closer games. Regardless of record. That's just how it is.
