especially as a pass rusher, travis jones was a problem last year
Addressing this now that I have a little more time, but yeah I agree for the most part. Injuries certainly made things a lot clearer, unfortunately for those guys. Fortunately those guys were further down the depth chart sans Likely though.
I feel like this team is probably deeper through 40-45 than normal, and maybe a little worse at the back end of the roster than normal. Just feels like we have a number of guys that are going to make the team that you could probably shuffle out for a number of other guys either here or outside of the organization and no one is going to lose any sleep.
Shout out to the 2nd and 3rd string types for stepping up and getting better though. It makes me feel a lot more comfortable about the state of the roster despite the lack of confidence in the the last 5-10 or so.
Can't run very fast lying on your back. lolIm saying that it wasnt enough speed and thats actually true lol. What they gonna stay in 3-4 base all game lol and get killed? cause if we switch out of 3-4, then we arent as strong.. offenses today are far too advanced for the 2000 defense. Like i really dont think the game would be close. Cmac used to get killed by wrs with quick feet.. yea bro i dnt think the game would be close.. 2006 defense would do a far better job at containing us and even then would still lose
Idk if anyone saw what rod woodson said recently and idk if anyone agrees but he was 1000% incorrect and thats not an opinion.. lamar would in fact have beaten the shit out of the 2000 ravens! 2006 team imo, has a better chance but the current ravens team and any team in the nfl pre wildcat and rpo and it likely wouldnt be close
Even with the Isaac injury, I'm being told that Ojabo is still firmly on the bubble. They like the kid and the work he's put in, but the results simply haven't been there and they're inching toward the line of thinking that it's not going to happen here and a change of scenery might be best. I was told explicitly that they don't feel this decision necessarily needs to be made on cut day so he may hang on in the interim, but it sounds like they're kind of giving up on the long term prospects.
I honestly dont see how a team that never even saw wildcat, read options nor rpo can stop lamar tbh. I dnt even think its possible playing a base 34 all game and thinking you can stop lamar. Legion of boom was one of faster defenses i can remember and they struggled with kapernick. 2000s team could contain a team like josh allen bills imo but i really do think lamar is just a different animal. He has us thinking gus edwards was nice and that murry and dalvin cook still had some juice left lol. people that dont know any better think we have a top 5 oline. Lamar affect on the game would just be too much. I can see them checking lamar for steroids and giving him cat cans and shit at half time to check and see if he human lol.. man just imagine going back to 2000s and you see this shit lmao. Might think its a football skitCan't run very fast lying on your back. lol
Yeah, you generally have some great takes, but me and Rod are gonna have to say you're on the outside with this one.
And I don't think there's some super strong commitment to keep 5 OLBs for the sake of keeping 5 OLBs, because Ojabo is wearing street clothes on Sundays anyways most likely. I got the impression from those texts that he may be okay for now, but if they decide that there's a player they want to keep more (either now or later), they aren't losing any sleep over cutting Ojabo.i mean tbf there aren't any long-term prospects, he's a free agent after this year
im assuming the isaac injury saves him from being cut
but given what you've been told, would probably be easy to swap him out for isaac when the time comes for him to come off i/r

I get the impression he's probably more in the Higgins or Brade type tier - guys who are fighting for the last spots - as opposed to a Hamm or Lichtenhan type tier - guys who they like but probably don't have a realistic shot at the 53. Just seems like he's moved down into a back end of the roster type vs. someone they look at as good depth.i guess especially if they think the difference between him and malik hamm or kaimon rucker isn't that big and those are guys they'd expect to be able to keep on the PS
I remember hamm had a great offseason like a yr or two ago.. wtf happened?I get the impression he's probably more in the Higgins or Brade type tier - guys who are fighting for the last spots - as opposed to a Hamm or Lichtenhan type tier - guys who they like but probably don't have a realistic shot at the 53. Injuries. Wasn't healthy at the start of his rookie year so they put him on IR and never felt the need to activate him, so he stuck there. They had high hopes last year but tore his ACL early. They still like him but he's almost 3 years removed from playing meaningful football at this point, so he's pretty far behind the curve.I remember hamm had a great offseason like a yr or two ago.. wtf happened?

It's possible but I'd stray from saying surely getting cut. It still sounds like he's on the right side as of now, even though he's likely to be a weekly inactive off the cuff.in which case surely he's getting cut
because those guys need to play special teams and or be developmental guys
and he's neither of those
very good player, terrible analyst. Unfortunately this seems to be the case most of the time.rod woodson is not a good analyst
there's a reason he's on the ravens broadcast and not a real broadcast
I seem to recall the Steelers stopping RG3 in his rookie year. No RG3 is no Lamar, but that was the beginning of Shanahan and bringing RPOs to the league. I think you both have a very valid point though. I'd love to see a game between last years Ravens vs the 2000 Ravens. I'd pay a lot of money to see that.I honestly dont see how a team that never even saw wildcat, read options nor rpo can stop lamar tbh. Regardless of his skills as a TV analyst he obviously knows way more about football than anyone here.rod woodson is not a good analyst

A lot would depend on which rule book they would be using. If it were 2000 vintage rules I would guess a bunch of the 2025 offense wouldn't survive to the end of the game. lol As we know, during the last 25 years the rules have been severely tilted toward the offense, and also have taken much of the violence out of the game.I seem to recall the Steelers stopping RG3 in his rookie year. For ray lewis, rod woodson, and all the veterans in that DL and LB corps? For one, those guys can figure it out with film study, and two, we would top them in speed and modernity but they would top us with sheer size, physicality, and experience/smarts. Idk if you’re giving the 2000 ravens defense enough credit. They were modern enough for this task.Teams in todays game got all year and still cant stop us so its no way anyone from back then can. Henry would still run the ball because our run game isnt that old school iform and singleback stuff. Our offense would be far too advance for them
