The Good, the Bad, and The Ravens

I have to disagree. The contract would be bad, but Lamar would not be ready either in all likelihood. Any coach worth their salt would at the very least go through a training camp here to see what he has.
Probably not. Again, he is easily releasable for massive cap savings. And the new coach doesn't have to want Lamar. The new coach could easily ask to trade up and draft his guy.

With what draft capital and what QB is worth having in this class? I mean I like Herbert and Thorson as much as the next guys but you aren't going to develop anyone behind this oline.
It's a win-win to at least see what he has. You save a lot of money if you cut Joe and if he still looks somewhat salvageable, you keep him and just go for oline and a RB and still have a complete team. I think if Flacco finishes the year strong, which he's been prone to doing in December, he's here to stay even with the contract and even if Harbaugh goes down. I don't think Lamar is as ready as Mahomes was, even if I really like the guy and think he's a future franchise QB.

I still think it's too early to say the season is over. The team is wildly inconsitent, but I think if we beat Pittsburgh next week there's a solid chance we make the wild card. Which makes this entire conversation moot.

IMO if they bring in a new coach it’s gonna be someone who wants to coach Lamar simple as that. They’ve seen 10 years of Flacco, they’ll know what they’re getting with him and most likely have no interest in him being their QB. The cap savings will make him an easy release or trade option.

I know the knee jerk reactions in the game thread were terrible but I still think Hurst is going to be a really good TE at the NFL level.

I'm still of the belief that it's not the talent on the team holding it back. We need a new HC.
I usually never agree with coach changes but youre right. Hope we get an offensive guru

Honestly I wouldn’t have a problem with starting lamar next year. He’ll be ready enough by then. The rest he can develop on the field.

Which leads me to the question, who?
Lamar is more pro ready than some people let on but I don't think he's quite ready to be the QB for a playoff team just yet.

I think Mosley takes too much heat sometimes, but how on Earth can you pay him the same amount of money as Luke Kuechly and Bobby Wagner? He's not even on their level and that's going to be a deal that's going to hurt you in the long run if he doesn't play up to their standards. If we thought of him being that good we would have paid him by now. I think the Ravens are going to have a difficult time reaching a deal with him and realistically we could see him walk if his asking price is to be the highest paid ILB in the league.

Agree totally. No coach is going to take our job unless they think Jackson is the real deal. Who ever comes in will only succeed here if Jackson succeeds. We’re not dumping a 1st round QB because he’s not our new coaches guy

Lets be realistic here... which young player is deserving of a new contract? I say pierce and thats it. We are in a world of trouble

That's my thing, if we're rebuilding then you go with Lamar, but if you want to compete then you stick with Joe. It's 10M in cap space you gain if you trade/cut Joe so you might just stick it with him. I wouldn't rush it if I'm trying to compete.

I agree! He isnt even close to them tbh. he isnt even on deion jones level.

why is Eluemunor still on the roster?
I'm not a Harbaugh hater per se, but he keeps doing the same mistakes over and over again. But we need a new offensive minded HC.
Mosley I don't know what happened today, but that must've been his worst game as a raven. after todays game its clear I let him walk if he demands top MLB money. Kuechly chased down Collins with ease, that's something mosley would've never been able to do.

The game thread was an absolute shit show of knee jerk reactions and was extremely pathetic. Some members more than others.

CJ and Jimmy were fine sans a couple of plays. Jamie Dukes may have been an ass but this fanbase is whiny as fuck.
I like Mosley but he seems to have peaked and he hasn’t improved in man coverage and that’s been a big part of our problem. We’ve tried to invest into SS like Jefferson to compensate. I’d love for him to do it because I like him a lot and I think he’s talented, but I’ve seen him for years now to come to this conclusion. He’s probably hurt and I wouldn’t be one to knee jerk and say he’s worthless but I also said earlier in this week that I was wondering what our plan is and whether we will keep Mosley. I’m wondering that more and more.

Mosley is good but this is my problem. I can’t justify paying or ranking him higher than Kuechly or Wagner or even equal to those guys. They’re elite players and Mosley is very good.

He's really not and we try to convince ourselves that we are. Those are supreme talent and credit to them but Mosley doesn't come close to us and we're fooling ourselves if we think that. Mosley is a top 5 ILB but there's a sizable gap between him and Luke/Bobby. I'd definitely put Zach Brown above him as well but his issues in man coverage is killing this team.

I want to see the All-22, I'm not venting my frustratings on him purely on this game but we're starting to put him at a level that he's simply not at.

The Brandon Williams contract is turning out to be even worse than we thought, and most people hated it.

I didn’t watch today’s game but I’ve been on the don’t resign CJ train. Let someone overpay him. He hasn’t played up to his potential the last few seasons. Idgaf about “he’s been playing through injuries”. So is every other damn nfl linebacker. He may be really smart but he’s too damn slow. His injuries have really piled up and having him on the books for the next several years could be a big problem. I wouldn’t mind paying him avg LB money but he doesn’t deserve elite money and that’s what he’ll be asking for.

This isn’t a knee jerk reaction this is what I’ve thought since last season. If he picks it up and plays like an all pro again cool pay him but i don’t see it happening. You can’t pay someone for what might possibly maybe happen. That’s not paying for obvious potential that’s overpaying and hoping it works out. That won’t cut it.

And we need to draft a damn pass rusher.

I think maybe Flacco is the problem even on guys like Hurst. As others stated before, Flacco likes to stare guys down. Maybe that’s a reason why guys drop the ball because they have some defender on them knowing they will get the ball? Starting to really make me wonder
That's been clear for a while, I'm afraid. We should have stopped blaming everybody else for Joe's shortcomings long time ago.

Paying CJ elite money would be just like what happened when we payed Jimmy except Jimmy is a better player at his peak. I’m not overpaying for someone who’s always “playing through injuries” that hinder him so much. We need a MLB that’s a freakin difference maker like he used to be.

That's my problem with Mosley. Injuries and his weaknesses in man coverage. Going back to the Steelers game last year he was awful, he played hurt and it contributed to his performance but when you're on the field you cannot be that big of a liability. Mosley has issues playing at peak performance and his man coverage skills are a big problem.

I'd rather use that money to get an elite OL or Earl Thomas.

So Kenny Young and who on the inside?

As many screw ups and poor performances there were today Carolina got every break and every call. It really was the perfect storm for them.
