Hate to be the party pooper, but regardless of whether you want Joe back in ASAP or keep rolling with Lamar...none of that really matters at the end of the day. In case you haven't been paying attention the past 10 years, we have serious coaching issues with the offense.
We win a SB riding Flacco's cannon? Naturally, we proceed to strip him of all his weapons and try to turn him into a checkdown queen, then wonder why he underperforms.
We go 3-1 in Lamar's first four games, in large part to his legs? Won't be long until we fix that and start having him throw the ball 45 times a game.
I do not trust this coaching staff as far as I can throw Andy Reid. (hint: that is not very far)
I love Harbs, what a great human being he is, a total class act. But it is time for someone else to be in charge.
I’ve been trying to say this for weeks. Like, it might be time to move on from Joe from a logistics standpoint just factoring in age and how he’s had three significant to major injuries in three years. I’d be sad to see him go but I would understand at this point.
What pisses me off is there’s a sentiment/narrative that’s prevelant here, not evenly across the board but it’s there, that puts Joe at the helm of blame for the lack of success the last few years and really downplays Flacco’s game as being mediocre at best and trash according to some.
Little to nothing in life isnrarely 100% one thing or 100% the opposite. Sure flacco deserves some blame for his play and the teams failures.
Those who are ready to scapegoat Joe and sail off to a brighter future with Lamar seem to be acknowledging very little to not at all how fucking miserable The coaching and FO have been in all of this - to say zero efforts were made is a little too far but the efforts they made were pale in comparison to those made in bolstering the defense , and the outright terrible decisions far outweigh any of the good ones. I’ll give them maybe a pass for Rice and Pitta , you can’t predict those situations. But it’s like no one on the team had half a brain to see what Flacco’s strengths and weaknesses were, and to tailor an offense around that with good coaching and personnel. Why invest so much money into the quarterback but not build the team around that investment? Flacco turned into a checkdown machine with shoddy mechanics because he’s consistently been on offenses with middling to piss poor running attacks and offensive lines that left much to be desired - and a dwindling set of targets to throw to.
Flacco may be past his prime or maybe it’s jjst best to move on to a new face , whatever. But let’s not act like the team didn’t do a good job and squandering and arguably ruining Flacco’s Health and play - and Don’t tell me not to be concerned about Lamar - this staff doesn’t build around quarterbacks , it uses them and leaves them hanging out to dry.
