Because it doesn't matter how good the fire power, without a line, an offense can't function
Funny. At the end of the day our defense may be better, but their offense will have it's strong points about us because we probably can't do shit against them. And their firepower and playcalling is better than ours. And their defense ain't a pushover either. Ours is better, but there's is still good.

Don't get me wrong, I actually think that we come out with a W. But its not going to be easy. They're not the Jets.. They don't suck. They have legit talent and Dunlap and Atkins are likely to massacre a rusty Flacco. It's going to be a really close game and likely come down to the wire. Hell, the Browns are not going to be easy either.

Their line isn't that bad. Their highly athletic aggressive young left tackle is injury free and looking awesome lately. Reports are he is totally dominant in practice. And Fisher is looking solid. Their interior OLine is looking solid but not dominant after losing a top5 guard to free agency. Andre Smith is a good RT. if Fisher is solid then Andre Smith a power player could play inside for a dominant presence along the interior to replace Zeitler. Mixon is looking really good to take heat off the rush on the QB. Overall their OLine is looking very solid.

Why do you keep underestimating Cincinnati? They may have a terrible oline, but they have a load of firepower to go with AJ Green, a good front 7, and a solid secretary. Their is a REALLY good chance they beat us week one because Dunlap and Atkins decide to massacre our crappy oline and we can't run the ball, and can't protect Joe because we become predictable, thus gassing our defense.

11-5 isn't just bold, it's unlikely. At best we're a 9-7 team imo.
I agree AJ Green is a Raven killer and they do have a good defense. This game could be a real dogfight. BTW I also like Cincy's secretary, she takes great dictation, hell their whole damn office staff is solid....:D I hate autocorrect, it changed Cincy to Cindy for me.

I don't think Cincinnatti will be as bad as a lot of Ravens fans are hoping, either.
I don't see how you can write them off for having a dodgy O line at the same time as being bullishly confident that the Ravens will be good with a suspect O line.

I just hope Pierce or Williams snaps Mixon. A win would be a bonus.

Yes. If things go well (which basically means if we can run the ball effectively - to keep the pressure off Joe and pass protection) we could be a very good team this year. And playing the AFC South helps us too.

haha you mean the same division where 3/4 teams don't know who should start during a given week? Luck obv starts when healthy but no one knows when that will be

I hope Bortles is still starting for the Jags when we play them. He makes such horrible throws when pressures. Our defense could get several turnovers in that game. It wouldn't even shock me of his outing against our defense is what get Bortles benched finally.

OK, here are mine for the team...

The Ravens defense will:
  1. Finish in the top 4 in interception rate
  2. Finish in the top 6 in sack rate
  3. Finish in the top 4 in rushing YPC and allow less than 4 YPC for the 22nd straight year.
  4. Finish in the top 4 in 3rd down percentage
  5. Finish in the top 3 in points allowed per game
  6. Every week for the first half of the year, you'll be screaming at some defensive game day deactivation whether it's a DL or OLB.
  7. The Ravens will play at least 15% dime this season, reversing Pees' 5-year record of 2.7% dime
The Ravens offense will:
  1. Be led in receptions by Danny Woodhead with 60+.
  2. Score at least 6 TDs and 6 other first downs with Patrick Ricard on the field
  3. Have a QB rating higher than their opponents
  4. Rush for more YPC that their opponents
Individually:
  1. Bowser will take over as the starting SAM by mid season
  2. Hurst will be the starting RT for at least 6 games this season.
  3. Tony Jefferson will improve his ball skills with at least 4 turnovers (FF + INT) for the season.

Here is the simple conclusion. The Bengals were 6-9-1 last year. Now I think they underachieved and were probably an 8-8 to 9-7 team that got unlucky and that happens, but they were 6-9-1 and got worse this offseason. They are worse offensively and they are worse defensively.

The Ravens finished 8-8 and you cannot say that about them. The defense that was number 1 in the NFL for 13 weeks got better at every level. They are better at DLine, they are better at LB and they are better at secondary. That defense that took the field opening day last year and was number 1 in the NFL until Jimmy went down is worse the one taking the field this year.

Offensively is a surprisingly more mixed bag then people would have you believe. I believe the Ravens were the 21st ranked offense for the record. At QB they are the same. At WR they are unquestionably better. At TE its harder to say. The overall play at TE was not great and its a lot of the same people with the people who were not there not being very good so I will say this one is also a wash but not a good one. On the Oline the Ravens are better at C and LT the same on RG and worse at LG and RT so overall thats a wash. Basically the offense will be about the same or slightly better than the one that took the field last year.

So you are looking at the number 1 defense in the NFL that is better than last year and the number 21 offense that is either the same or worse than last year playing against a team that finished worse then them and got worse. This is not a hard game to call. If I were picking a score I would say 20-7 Ravens and that the Bengals only score a late TD after being shut down hard for 3 quarters.

My opinion the ravens do not win the bengal game. With Joe Flacco not playing yet the offense is gonna be very outa sync for a couple weeks. There are many skilled young defensive players on the ravens. But players like Bowser, Timmy, Pierce, Henry and even Urban and Judon need in game experience together. And need to adjust to playing starters for a complete game. The defense is gonna be dominant. But it is young players that are quite a distance from hitting their stride against starters.

The Bengals aren't as bad as advertised. Their young tackle is finally injury free, bulked up and far stronger. Anthony Munoz said he is going to be great. Their young RT looks solid and ready to contribute as well. And the Bengals added 2 elite weapons to an already stacked offense. Sad to say but Mixon looks like a total stallion at running back. Not to mention Eifert is injury free for this game anyways. The Bengals added some really good edge rushers as well. Lawson has looked like an outright Steal this summer

And the ravens added some promising players in the draft. As well as year2 players making strides. However lost Zack Orr and ilb looks like a hole. Correa is Arthur Brown 2.0 at ilb. We signed Tony Jefferson but Tavon Young who was dynamic as a rookie is out for the year. And although Tony Jefferson has the skill to play more coverage and do it very well. But he has to adjust from playing mostly at the line. So a very promising defense but it will need to play some games to hit its stride.

I agree bro. our whole season depends on flacco and i have no faith in him whats so ever till the first game! If flacco can be an average qb we will make playoffs. If he plays like last season, we will be drafting a qb in 1st 3 rnds

We are constructed currently to be dominant defensively and for our special teams coverage to be exceptional.

If our offense can play to those strengths, play field position, limit turnovers, not force throws from desperation and remain committed to running the football, we should win ten games.

A punt that changes field position is not the worst of things with this defense. Turnovers and penalties must be limited, clearly.

It feels like the Bengals may very well live and die by the offensive line, which on paper looks like one of the most questionable units in the league, which is unsurprising after losing two elite offensive linemen. That said, they have improved at the skill positions, and I by no means subscribe to the notion that they are worse defensively than the year before. Starters wise, they've lost Karlos Dansby whom they've replaced with Kevin Minter, essentially a wash if not a minor upgrade, and they've lost Domato Peko, who's been vastly underperforming for years. Andrew Billings will contribute this season, as will William Jackson III, both of whom missed the year before. And they've beefed up their pass rushing at least to some extent with Jordan Willis and Carl Lawson. Everything else is virtually the same on paper on that side of the ball. That said, we have an improved chance in week one. The losses of Vontaze Burfict and Adam Jones are absolutely key. Shawn Williams could miss the contest as well. We're 2-6 against Cincinnati since after the SuperBowl run so they typically play us well. That said, if our front seven shows up as expected, their offensive line could be their undoing.

Me either! Plain and simple! And, here's the thing to me Deebo. I'm so sick of Joe just being "average" in this league man. Sure, he went on a historical run in the playoffs way back in 2012 but since then....what? I'm definitely skeptical of both him and our offense at this point.

I think Tim Williams is gonna end up being criminally underused on passing downs this year because of our OLB depth, which might not be terrible because the other guys can get it done, but I want that beast to be unleashed. He's going to be a freaking weapon.

We finish the season at 11-5. Now that is BOLD as hell!

These cats picks were similar to mine with the exception of us losing to the Bengals, Vikings and beating the Texans. I have us at 11-5 and they have us at 10-6.
